My apologies if this is posted in the wrong section but I figured posting here would probably get the most feedback. So this problem has been occurring more and more frequently but has not lasted so long before.. Basically when i try to connect to the patch server and IRO's main website i am unable to connect for whatever reason, and then like maybe after "x" amount of attempts it finally connects for no apparent reason, just magically fixed. However this time around its been like 12 hours and its never really taken more than 5 minutes to fix itself.. I have ran most basic diagnostics myself such as: running as admin, restarting computer, firewall, resetting router and modem, re downloading and re installing.. also both classic and renewal wont connect. Any answers regarding this issue or others experiencing this problem? I tried looking around but did not see any related issues so sorry if this has already been solved. Any help is much appreciated!

I sent in a ticket regarding the same issue last night. The reply from Customer Service is:

So they're aware and working on it.

try this, I had the same issue with the patch server and it worked for me

if you are on XP:
1-go to Control Panel then Network Connections
2-right click on "local area conections"and select properties
3-in the general tab will be a list, select "internet protocol (TCP/IP) adn click properties.
4-click "advanced" and select the DNS tab, if there is any DNS adress in the list write them down for future reference and then delete them, click ok.
5-now select "Use the followind DNS server adress", in the prefered DNS use 8.8.8.8 and in the alternate use 8.8.4.4

Now if you are using wireless conection do the same but select Wireless conections" instead of "Local area Conections"

if you are in windows 7 go to control panel click Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, and click Change adapter settings, from this point is the same as in XP the only diference is that there will be two options in the list Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), change any of them or both, for (TCP/IPv4) use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, for (TCP/IPv6) use 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844

I tried this, but my connection will not allow me to connect to that DNS as it brings up an error every time I tried. In fact it even disabled my Ethernet Port when I attempted it for Wired Connection.

On Windows:
  • Windows-key + r-key, the "Run" window will be displayed.
  • Type "cmd" and hit enter/return
  • Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter/return

What error? Have you tried changing the DNS settings on your router?

Windows Network Diagnostics
Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem
You can try exploring additional options that might be helpful

Close the troubleshooter

This message comes up every time I try to change the DNS from automatic to the Google one provided. If I continue onward the connection ceases to work and does not fix the patcher problem at all.

I am using Dlink not Comcast.
