Ragnarok for MAC

Any one here use MAC book play Ragnarok?

I found Crossover works for MAC, but can we use WTFast on MAC? through Crossover too?

I'm trying to find the best way for a MAC user to play Ragnarok...give me some suggestion please!.

Three ways and issues below:
  • VM (Parallels Desktop)
  • Issue 1: Can't open two client at the same time.
  • Issue 2: VM make your MAC hot hot hot.
  • Crossover
    • Issue 1: Don't konw how to let WTFast work on crossover.
    • Issue 2: Client occasionally freezes (Miindy)
  • Boot camp
    • Issue 1: Need to reboot when you want back to MAC system.

I typically play it in a Virtual Machine. Pretty much everything works.

Of course, boot camp will also work as well. A word of warning, though, as the new retina macbooks act weirdly with some video drivers, and I couldn't get RO to run on my VM on mine. It did work on bootcamp.

I tried Crossover, didn't like it. Now I use boot camp, it's just much easier since everything works with it.

I tried Parallels Desktop, it didn't worked very well on my Retina MAC book pro.
I can't open the second client, and it burns my MAC (Temp is very high)

My MAC is a retina one, so should i install Win8 (seems more suitable for Retina) or Win7?

Crossover is an option, as is Virtual Machine (but I heard it won't work if there's a "3D monster"?).

Bootcamp is best for gaming in general. Because yeah, so many games hate OS X...

Try to get Win7 if you can. Though I always wish I could get Windows XP. It's the best and I miss it :|

Take note that boot camp will always use discreet graphics whenever you use it, so it will get hot. It's a given. Consider a cooling stand if you think heat is an issue, whichever way you play it.

I personally managed to get RO to run on a VM in OS X, with the obligatory retina graphics (but, well, RO is RO, and pixel sprites don't scale well). I don't think it's worth the effort, though; either use boot camp or use crossover. If you want practicality, and more or less guaranteed compatibility, go boot camp.

I heard win7 is not good for Retina, but win 8 is better.

When you use VM, it can let you open the second client?

I like CrossOver. It looks nice and dual clienting works pretty well. The only problem is that the client occasionally freezes, but I don't think that's the case with all Macs. Check out this page: How to play Ragnarök Online on Mac OS X

I don't find it annoying. I've been playing on a Mac since 2009 and the only issue I've had is what I said above.

It's not in the compatibility database (http://www.codeweave...fast&search=app), but you may be able to run it. You'd have to try it out. I've never heard of it so... :/

You're correct; that problem only occurs on certain Macs.

Have you tried enabling the experimental "Mac driver"? (You can enable it from the "advanced" tab of the "manage bottles" window.)

I tried CrossOver before and it did not work on RO too. I am currently using bootcamp win8. Just buy a win8 it's only $60 and easy to install.

No, but I'll look into it.

Edit: Lowerping can apparently be used on OS X and Linux with the aid of some third-party software. I'll investigate whether WTFast can be used in the same manner if I have time tomorrow.

Boot camp is nearly 100% guaranteed to work, I've done it on 5 macs by now and helped a lot of people do it. If you're asking "is it possible", then it's definitely possible. If you have one of the models with an SSD drive (which all retina models have) then rebooting between OS X and windows should take under 15 seconds, so that's not a big deal.

My VM does allow me to have multiple clients open, but mine is not a typical setup.
