2. Rune Maintain Slate is there to keep runes in place. If the rune hole is open, but without a rune, it will be lost. There has to be a rune INSIDE for the slate to work and you can only use ONE slate.
3. Appearance Maintain Slate works as advertised
4. It took me a WHOLE LOT of attempts to get a 3 Slotted Earmuffs (Earplugs is a terribly dumb translation) but I got them from fusion of a 2 slot item with a 1 slot item - this means nothing, it could be luck but hey its what worked for me
5. Phantom Cape + Hero Cape gave me a 3 Slotted Devil Wings
There are no permanent mid face, lower face or bottom (pants) accessories as of yet. I have a Wedding Dress, so no body costume attempts were made except with some leftover mushrooms. Nothing came out of it.

Nice findings. What we need now is a compilation of what's possible to make from what.

"Devil Wings" and "Angel Wings" have 1 or 2 slots
"Devil Look Wings" and "Angel Look Wings" have 3 slots.
Odd.

And if GuardianTK wants to make a compilation, Female Goth Loli, Male Mushroom, Female Bunny (as long as any one of them is in there) provide options of M/F mushroom, Cat, Bunny, M/F Recruit. Assuming you don't go with Random.
Edit: Did anyone test fusing a dyed costume yet?

If we fuse a costume with a timed stat, e.g. Goth Loli, will the timed stats disappear if we use the appearance maintain slate?

You cannot fuse limited edition costumes, AFAIK.
does it matter if I put a +1 stat rune/+5stat rune before fusing them?
I read somewhere that to keep the rune slot with a "Rune Maintain Slate,' it has to have a rune in it. Not just a rune slot. Don't quote me on that though.

It works perfectly fine for me if I use Appearance Maintain + Rune Maintain on an item o_O
The Random Box shouldnt be a problem.

1. This slate is only for keeping existing SLOTTED IN RUNES not blank rune holes.
2. This slate wont help you reach a 3 slotted costume faster but it will allow you to keep your designated runes inside the costume.*
3. If using Rune maintain slate and appearance slate at the same time always make sure to use appearance slate on the costume with slotted in runes.
4. Rune maintain slate has no effect on the randomizer from taking away your sprite.
Appearance maintain slate:
1. This slate gives an unknown chance of keeping the costume sprite of your choice.
2. Theres always a chance to lose your preferred sprite, even fusing 2 of the same costumes wont save you.(notice the random box is checked even when using like costumes)

I don't know what you guys do wrong but I've used over 20 without every encountering a "fail".
One thing you CANNOT do is "Appearance Maintain" one costume AND "Rune Maintain" the other one.

Using an appearance maintain slate even by itself always has a chance to fail to keep the sprite. Else i could of kept 1 recruit hat the whole time and fused it with different headgears unlimited times to get the 3 slots i wanted, which was my original intention by the way. Yes i know i already posted my findings that you cannot fuse your preferred sprite with a seperate costume with slotted in runes, which results in you losing everything. It's a poor design to have to follow the slotted in runes and not care what sprite the fusor gives you.

I haven't tried it yet, but i read the comments about the % of success, so I got afraid of losing my devil costume ( reason I haven't tried the fusion ). That's why I was asking lol.
