Always the same problem. I tried the running as admin, changing files from read-only and changing avast settings. I tried getting the manual patch that seemed to allow classic to patch but didn't help the actual Ragnarok.exe patching process AT ALL. I tried a bunch of stuff. All the things I've seen on all the forums seem to be very obscure about a fix if not just a dead end with no fix at all. I would appreciate someone not redirecting me out the door and no answers that cover what I already tried.

I can't figure out why it isn't sticky'd if there even IS a fix... and if there isn't I can't figure out why no one has made/found one as it seems to be a common problem with little useful attention. Lets try to fix that shall we?

Is this a fresh install, or was RO previously working on that system? when was it last run successfully?

Do you always error on the same file, or is it different every time?

Can you access ftp://ropatch1.gravityus.com in internet explorer? Can you access it in other browsers?

There's no single answer to this because patch problems are not that simple. Knowing only that error, it could be at least half a dozen different problems...

Always same error... had it installed a couple years ago on this computer (dont remember it being this big a pain though) ...can access it in internet explorer. When I run the exe it fails on that file every single time. I downloaded the "manual" patch in the folder and it still happened to the exe that is not the classic one.

Do you see it download any other files before the one that errors it? I'm wondering whether it's just tripping over that file, or whether it's not able to connect at all.

Also - can you access ropatch1.gravityus.com in non-IE browsers? (I used to think this would always work if it worked in IE, but two weeks ago we had someone for whom IE worked but neither RO nor any other browser could connect to the patch server)

I've seen this problem before. Every time the updater is run, it stalls while downloading the same large file and then states "failed to get File name file".

If I remember correctly, I worked around the problem by manually downloading the problematic file and putting it in the client folder. Are you certain that you downloaded the correct file and put it in the correct folder? The file should be put in the same folder that contains the file Ragnarok.exe. Due to UAC file virtualisation, you might need to run the updater with administrative privileges to allow it to see the file.

Question is whether he's able to patch some files, but not this one (in which case manual patch will work), or whether this one is the first file the client is trying to patch (in which case it probably can't connect to the FTP server at all, and hence won't patch manually).
