Hello all,

I've perused the forums for hours going over the "name taken" error, the "character's disappearance" error, the "screen is a tiny box" error, and the "Set Up Screen won't go away" error. Unfortunately, it seems that when I fix one, another one pops up. I always run as administrator. I've uninstalled, and re-downloaded several times. I've opened task manager and ended the processes that lagged as seen in other threads, too. I've tried all of everything I read on every thread, even downloading and installing from a folder other than my 'Program Files'. I finally get a character and get into Chaos, but when I go to change the resolution I get yet another error, the "no client info" error.

I'm a new player, and would really like to finally try out this game after hearing nothing but a decade of praise for it. I've had just about every error I can find on the net one after the other, and it seems doomed for me to try RO. (Getting into a game shouldn't be this hard!) Every time I fix one error, another pops up.

Can anyone help get me into this game? Or should I give up?

It's so nice to still see completely new people trying out RO for the first time... :]

It can be a pain, but generally once you get it going, there shouldn't be any problems after that... few things that come to mind first-

-Are you running Windows7/8? If so, have you done right-click on ragexe in program folder and changed to WindowsXP SP3 compatibility mode?
-Is there any significant patching done with the client launcher? it should check server and almost immediately let you start afterwards
-When you get NoClientinfo error, try killing in Task Manager with the first error pop-up, then re-launch. Then dismiss the error several times, THEN kill it.
-When you launch your setup,exe, is there an actual resolution listed in that box? And also, is fullscreen mode on? if so, turn it off.

Next step would be deleting the setup info file so you can start from scratch with setup.exe settings... Which I'll be glad to help with too~ Good luck and let us know how it goes! :]

**Update: I managed to fix both clients simply by re-downloading, installing from a folder outside of my "programs folder" (again), NOT running as admin during the initial patch, but running as admin every time after, and by changing my resolution before EVER logging into the game. I can finally play! :)

xD You know, after I got my new laptop a month ago, I was -this- close to junking the install and installing to my desktop/harddrive to see if that would help, then it started working just fine!

You got it started, awesome! :3 Now... we just gotta keep you here. >.>

Oh! And one thing I forgot a couple times, was running setup.exe as admin as well so it could change files inside programfiles too. I really need to figure out how to make myself an Elevated Administrator on Win8 so things like this (and it's not just RO, oh no~) stop happening. Thanks MicroSoft! :3

Since I'm thinking about it, you should bookmark the following~
-WP Forums, of course!
- ragial.com <- best market site by far, you'll need it soon~
- irowiki.org <- awesome wikimedia-style site with just about everything you could want to know, as well as
- db.irowiki.org <- for all items, weapons, headgear (basically the only reason we play RO right?) and any item in the game really!
