I am really getting tired of seeing these installation issues. Gravity makes $50 million a year. There should not be any issues with the most basic process in attaining revenue. Downloading and installing the game. You guys really have to get your act together, find out what is causing this issue since its definitely on your end, and freaking fix it. Its been months and nothing has changed. It should have been fixed a week after this issue was first discovered.
FDI Server Error happens when your Windows Installer is too old for the client your are installing or it cannot access your Windows Installer.
First question to ask is do you have Windows XP or later, and is it a legal copy. If it is not a legal copy, that is your issue. Also the client will not work with Windows XP 64-bit.(It does work with later 64-bit versions of Windows)
Second, if you have a legal copy of Windows XP or later you most likely have an issue with your installer. This is typically a virus since the first thing most viruses do is take out the Windows Installer so it cannot be uninstalled easily. If you are not familiar with removing more nasty viruses I would consult a professional. The best way to check if you have a virus is using ESETs free virus scanner. ESET has a really good track record of keeping up with new viruses and fixes, so it will probably fix the damage if you do have a virus. If you had a virus removed you may need to check if the windows installer is functional, and update or replace it depending on the damage.
Third, the game will not install on a Mac or Linux.
