I don't know if there is already some sort of a way of doing it posted somewhere or if someone has already posted the same thing somewhere. I don't even know if this the best way or the correct method but I use it and it works for me. I'm not claiming it to be technically sound or can give the best technical explanation on how things work but I will post as I understand things whether they are correct or not.

Recording Emblems in RO Replay

Understanding How _tmpEmblem works:

  1. As soon as you login, your client searches for players around you, tries to read their name and along with that it also search for guild and if it has emblem. Whenever it encounters a new guild, it will try to get its emblem and save it in the _tmpEmblem folder.
  2. This happens as soon as you login and you encounters players in guild. So for instance if you move along the prontera market, your _tmpEmblem folder will be populated with 50-100 or more emblems as you walk since you already know how populated it is.
  3. The format it saves these emblems is not compatible with RO Replay apparently for reasons known/unknown/not clear to me. so you need to do a different approach for making them work in RO Replay.

How to record emblems for RO Replay

It would help if you have a friend to help you with the process. Also if you have a group of friends to help you record various guild emblems, that is friends in various guilds who can help you record that particular guild emblem.

Also you will record one guild emblem at a time or let us say few guild emblems at a time so it is important to maintain record of the emblems you record and keep backup of those files (You will understand what I’m saying as you read ahead)

Procedure:

  1. Login, leave your guild, stay guildless.
  2. Go inside some castle, any castle of your choice.
  3. Go to your RO Directory, delete _tmpEmblem folder or just rename it if you want backup.
  4. Go back into game and start recording replay.
  5. Call one of your friend who belongs to the guild whose emblem you wish to record. Example: Call one player from Final Uprising inside the same castle.
  6. As he walks in you notice that your _tmpEmblem folder has a entry. For example for FU it will be: Chaos_15769_583.ebm
  7. Make the player go out and come back in and you can notice, he has emblem over his head and you can see the emblem on his name as well in game. (This all is while recording is on)
  8. You can now stop recording and test it to find out that emblem for that particular player is being displayed in the replay. (Incase if it does not repeat the process, probably something went wrong)
  9. You have successfully recorded one guild emblem. Repeat for more and innovate for doing multiple guilds at once. This procedure basically explains how it can be done for one emblem. Refer tips for more help.

Tips:

  1. Everytime you save a guild emblem in the _tmpEmblem folder, remember the file name and make a copy of it on some new folder. This is for future use, say after a week you want to record a new guild so you will delete entire _tmpEmblem again and might lose your previous work. So this backup will help you get back the previous recorded guild emblems.
  2. Basically what I’m saying is; save guild emblems one by one and store them in a folder for backup. Once you have all required guild emblems, you can use this backup folder as your main _tmpEmblem.
  3. You can even dual client to capture the emblems of your own guild or get into guild and do it on your own but it will be a touch confusing and difficult initially to get it right since as soon as you login the dual client it might record its own emblem or even while walking it might record the people nearby. You will have to do several attempts of deleting _tmpEmblem and trial and errors to get it done. There is a sequence to it, easy to figure out with trial and error.
  4. You can do all of this inside WoE itself but if few guilds get recorded even before you enter castle then they won't work and the amount of emblems it will record will make it difficult to identify which ones are done under what file and which ones are not, hence the procedure above is like a guaranteed way for optimum result but time consuming and lot of effort. But yes during WoE if you just go inside castle, start recording and then delete _tmpEmblem, it will capture all the guilds that come in, provided you stay alive. This will be effective and easy to capture most guilds that enter your castle.

Example Technique:

  1. Park your character guidless like this here;

  2. Start the recording, delete _tmpEmblem folder.
  3. Call your friends in this castle while its recording from as many various guilds as you can and make them change maps once or twice to confirm its showing emblem on head.
  4. Stop recording, test it, should be done.
  5. That’s it then, have fun.

Share your Emblems:

To my knowledge, once you have recorded it successfully you can share your _tmpEmblem folder with working emblems with your friends as well and it will work for them as well. I have not tested this yet though.

PS: Hope its posted in the correct section.
