Done some numbers on Protector armour.. Basically trying to get as much CON as possible, for a little investment as possible.

First I looked at how much CON gets added per reinforcement. The green highlights in the chart are the highest for that armour part.

dDOyWmA.png

The S1 seamless is in there for reference as it doesn't drop any more. If you look closely, the boots are more CON per + than 85!

About the LW helm:

  • Converting the 11HP it adds per + to 2.2 CON, it adds 4.2 CON per +.
  • It also starts with 90 HP as well as the 11 CON, essentially starting at 29 CON - max base CON on L85 is 26.
  • Although breaking the L85 set bonus loses 35 CON, the once you get past +15 on the helm it's actually better, due to it adding 2.2 more per + than the 85.
  • At +30 LW helm will give 155 CON, and the L85 with max base stats and including the 35 set bonus will give 121. That's 34 CON difference.
  • LW is also the only armour part with Curse resistance.
  • You will lose the 7% Fire Resistance part of the L85 set bonus.

Decide for yourself...

I added up the CON from various sets, whole and mixed. For +30....

The top set is the LW helm with the other 5 parts L85 CON.

Very close to a full 85 set is a mix:

  • LW helm
  • RH shoes
  • Lower and shoulder from either Glorious, Conqueror or Sacred Pattern
  • Upper and gloves from 85 CON

That is the best trade-off I can find for pure CON for as cheap as possible.

What also needs to be considered are resistances - most sets give Elec.

Conqueror is good for Fire resistance, and the L85 set has a little too (doesn't go up with reinforcing).

As mentioned, the LW helm is the only part with Curse.

L79 gives Light, which as far as I'm aware is not used in any PvE part of the game.

Unless you can find S1 Glorious!

WTB S1 Glorious.... xD

85 will actually beat 66 a little on CON cos of higher base stats and set bonus, and is better on resistances. And the LW helm is better still cos of that HP on it.

But 66 has the block rate, and, well, it's S1! :D

After... what... almost 5 years, S1 Glorious, at lvl 70 and rare grade, remains the ultimate dream and reigns supreme.

Personally, I think it is the one and true indication how warped and illogical the whole game concept in ReQQ is.

You will indeed find very few other games, if any at all, that level progression means pretty much nothing, and that lower level gear can out-perform gear that is 10-15-20 levels higher. It is just totally insane.

More or less, in any other game I have tried through many years of RPGing, gear becomes kinda obsolete after a few levels. And of course, reaching max level would mean the player has access to the BEST gear available. Or possibly, and preferably, to several options being offered for max level, depending on rarity, difficulty to obtain and upgrade.

But, no, in ReQQ we can merrily use FoC 65 sets at lvl 90, the most funny thing is... they actually do a decent job too. There is no sense of progression, just stuff thrown here and there in some random fashion. It does show how much care has been invested into the game and how much neglect over 5-6 years now, that they have been unable (or simply never could be arsed) to even make gear really scale up with levels, except for the "difficulty" in upgrading, i.e. throw in moar CASH.

And the vicious circle will continue with the "new" lvl 90 armour sets, I am pretty certain. Amen to that.

If you can't tank with decent +'d 66 set, you need to delete your prot.

EDIT : I don't think you English very well - were you saying you can't tank AOS unless you have 66 or 85 set?

AOS is for mall-whores, so they can get more gear that must be mall-whored. Might as well have a thing to swipe your credit card to enter...

don't listen to them , they are envious :heh:

moreover the posts you just read start to be a bit old .

if you are looking for 89 set , i would say it's a good choice : you can make a custom set without losing full set bonus ! meaningnas long it's steel legionnaire , no matter terror , nightmare , or stats you choose , they are all considered like the same gear for bonuses, what make the 89 armors good in my opinion. good luck with that :no1:

I am levelling a protector at the moment and currently level 82.

Will the following gear cut it for high level raiding?

+15 S1 Seamless Polar Icecap set

+20 Titan Shield

+20 Titan Bludgeon

+20 Secret Lab Set

please be a little more specific on which raids you plan on doing

also it depends a lot on your party, like having a saker with plague charm helps a lot

also NOT bludgeon. use sword

use nightmare con jewels if you can, rare or carus

and whats your plan for resists? would like to remind you that AoS is a lot of elemental dmg
