POPULAR

These builds assume no access to god items. Adjusting builds to benefit from god items is left as an exercise for the reader - if you have god items, you should be resourceful enough to optimize builds yourself.

This is a work in progress - I posted this in this state because too many people were asking me for builds and I don't see myself having much time to finish this in the near future.

Stats:

All of these are PVM/MVP builds.

HBP AB optimized:

Str: 105

Int: 90

Vit: 96

Dex: 90

Luk:54

HBP CC optimized:

Str: 100

Int: 108

Vit: 96

Dex: 90

Luk: 21

FAW AB optimized:

Str: 110

Int: 100

Vit: 96

Dex: 60

Luk: 61

FAW CC optimized (assuming you have a way to reduce your variable cast!)

Str: 104

Int: 120

Vit: 96

Dex: 40

Luk: 27

FAW/HBP CC Optimized for DPS and non-terribad cast without -% cast effects

Str: 100

Int: 108

Vit: 96

Dex: 90

Luk 21

Skills (these apply to any genetic build):

Merchant:

IWL10, Cart 10 Mammo 10 (optional), whatever else you need for merchanty duties.

Biochem:

AB, FCP, and all prereqs, and level 1 of all homun skills, then pick 2 of these 5 options:

1) Potion Research to 10 - for the regen.

2) Aid Potion 5

3) Summon Flora - for hell plant builds (ie, woe builds)

4) Homun Res 5 instead of 1

5) Axe Mastery 5 (1 choice) or 10 (both choices) for small increase in CC damage.

Genetic:

Cart Cannon, Boost, Remodeling 5

Sword Mastery 5 (for added CC damage)

29 skill points left.

Gear:

Always: Variant shoes, or +9 Superior Enhanced Variant Shoes.

General gear:

Shields

It is always important to have a shield with the right racial reduction card in it. If you're new and poor, start out trying to snag a set of cheap shields, and then later on, buy better replacements for the important races. Hodremlin card should be a last resort, when the races you'll be fighting are hopelessly mixed; not a first resort because you only want to have one shield; Hodremlin card gives half the reduction of a real shield card.

Valkyrian Shields - For Alice and the most important races (Demihuman, Demon come to mind).

Headgear:

offensive

+9 KK CoD (-29% cast for CCing)

+9 EMH (Best for damage - Card with Dark Ping at +9, Seyren at +12)

+12 CEB (for dealing with demi-humans - CC damage is nearly as good as +9 EMH, and it gives demi resist)

Enhanced Solar God Helm is WORSE than +9 EMH and damage gear.

defensive

Abysmal Knight Helm - Great with element resist card to deal with MVPs with particularly painful elemental attacks.

Witch Pumpkin Hat - With alarm mask for cheap healing while leveling.

Rudolph Hat - Until March, cheap healing.

budget offensive:
Airship Captain Hat (not as good as EMH, but a lot better than the alternatives)

Mid:

AB damage with RTE - these are all very close in damage. The Imp Opera Phantom mask is a good budget choice:

Dark Ping BFG

Robo Eye (If using Hurricane Fury, this is the best choice)

Improved Opera Phantom Mask

Black Devil Mask

CC damage, descending order:

Black Devil Mask

Dark Ping BFG

Robo Eye

(am I forgetting anything here?)

defensive

Elemental resist carded slotted mid gear (for use with above ele resist carded AKH)

Lower:

PDag/Gangster Scarf, or WCP if the two dex matters to you.

Weapon: (all upgraded as high as you can afford

Triple Kingbird Red Twin Edge

Byeollongum, with either EA (for damage) or spell (for cast) for CCing bosses.

Kingbird Hurricane Fury with either EA or Spell enchants (as above) for large/med monsters and reckless (shieldless) behavior.

Mjolnir (for CC only)

Armor:

Orleans Gowns - Fire, Shadow, Water, Porcellio (to default)

Unfrozen Typhoon Armor

Insta CC gearsets:

Insta-CC 1:

+9 KK CoD (-29% cast)

2x RWC Pendant (-32% cast), KBC if you can afford it

+9 FAW [Spell x3] (-30% cast)

+X RTE [AS x 3, Spell4+] (-10% cast) - the enchant is not yet available though :-(

101% cast reduc

Insta-CC 2 (almost best vs boss):

+9 KK CoD (-29% cast)

2x RWC Pendant (-32% cast), KBC if you can afford it

+9 FAW [Spell x2 EA4] (-20% cast)

+X Byeo [Spell4+ x2] (-20% cast)

101% cast reduc

Insta-CC 3 (best vs boss only!):

+9 KK CoD (-29% cast)

2x RWC Pendant (-32% cast), KBC if you can afford it

+9 FAW [Spell x3] (-30% cast)

+X Byeo [Spell4+, EA 5+] (-10% cast)

101% cast reduc

Insta-CC 4 (glass cannon high damage vs large/med):

+9 KK CoD (-29% cast)

2x RWC Pendant (-32% cast), KBC if you can afford it

+9 FAW [Spell x3] (-30% cast)

+X HF[Spell4+, EA 5+] (-10% cast)

101% cast reduc

Insta-CC 5 (glass cannon high damage vs large/med - not quite as good as 4):

+9 KK CoD (-29% cast)

2x RWC Pendant (-32% cast), KBC if you can afford it

+9 FAW [Spell x2 EA 4] (-20% cast)

+X HF[Spell4+,x2] (-20% cast)

101% cast reduc

Almost-insta-CC (with RTE w/out enchant):

+12 KK CoD (-33% cast) - yup, +12.

2x RWC Pendant (-32% cast), KBC if you can afford it

+9 FAW [Spell x3] (-30% cast)

Your choice of weapon - you don't need for cast with this build

Miyabi Doll pet (-3%)

97% cast reduc. Naturally, a +15 KK CoD would get you 100% cast reduc. Trying to figure out ways to get that last 3%.

Thanks for the guide! I've been looking for something like this.

I'm really new to the game... could anyone explain some of these acronyms to me?

FAW/HBP

HBP AB

HBP CC

Variable cast time reduction from dex is calculated after % reduction gears so i'd be say if u have 90% + 100 dex it'd be like [root(200+your int/530)%] x (1-90%) + 90%

If you had 100 total int (let's say), it'd be approximately (75% x 10%) + 90%

= 97.5% total reduction??

both reduce cast time, but to get instant cast i believe you need 100% cast reduc from either gears or stats. that is, you can't mix them, you need 100% in one or the other (so 90% cast reduc gear and 100 DEX will not grant instant cast)

It should be noted that while you can't mix them to reach 100%, they will add multiplicatively to approach 100%.

Pretty sure it's something like if you have access to gods, you should at least have some knowledge to build your gene around the gods ;v. Else you're not really deserving of it.

I'm writing this guide for the larger audience. God items change things, and I'd have to completely redo all the stat builds to account for the effects of god items. Also god items can actually change which weapon is better due to str bonus - so it really would be a lot of work to expand this guide for god item builds (hell, I don't even have time to do it for non-god-item users) and other advanced genetic builds. I'm only trying to give an up-to-date guide on basic genetic builds here.

The comparison tool that I use to compare builds is on my website and linked to from my sig - if you have been playing long enough to get god items, you should be comfortable running the numbers yourself.

Hi Dr Azzy, what exactly does optimized mean? Because i thought the optimal stats varies depending on what gear you are using.

it would be really cool to have a stat calculator where you can input the gear u are wearing and the vit/agi you want to have, then the calculator will automatically generates the optimal str, int and luk  for AB and CC damage!

That would take a very veeeeeeeery long time to do considering all the alternatives... So it's kind of difficult.
I suppose optimized is that if you use that equip + the build you would get he most of it, dmg wise.

I think he posted thats builds after he tested/run the numbers himself so if you want a very specified build you should try and test yourself and see whats the best for you.

They are optimized for maximum damage normal gear, while having 100 total vit for status immunity - crazy gear throws it off, but changes in normal gear make only a small difference. HF, for example, favors str, due to it's higher watk. These builds were optimized for RTE.

I do not have time to write a calculator that has that sort of capability - I have written a calculator that does the hard part. All you need to do is read the stats of the gear and add them up.

hey azzy great guide , btw do you happen to have an updated stat calculator w/gears and etc , cuz i want to try making my own builds but the only one i know is the iro wiki stat calc and its not up tto date : /

I have the calc linked in my sig.

My opinion is that the iW stat calc has enough issues that it can't be easily patched up (at least not without real documentation for the code - I've looked at the code, and it's a godawful mess), and I don't have the time to write something that has a database of gear and does the addition for you.

The 120/40 build is optimized for FAW; it will not perform well with an HBP. With FAW, it's optimized for maximum damage (note that you need a way to reduce cast to get good DPS with this build)

The one with 108 int and 90 dex is meant to work with either HBP or FAW, but either way, it will not perform as well as the FAW-only CC optimized build.
