The skill overbrand got total 3 hit, and I heard the skill is 50% melee and range, this make me wonder which hit is melee or range. According to my observation the first hit damage is far more higher than the 2nd and 3rd, so I wish to add a card that can boost the damage for the first hit but I'm not sure the damage type is melee or range.

For your info, I'm looking for a pvm spear that can give me the maximum OB damage and my current choice is hunting spear.

First off, check out the iROwiki link for Overbrand:

Now to answer your questions, there is no ranged portion to Overbrand.  The colored Area of Effect chart on the bottom shows how many hits you'll deal from OB and where they will be.  The main parts to OB are getting the 3 hits to land, and it'll take some practice to get the placement down.  I recommend dragging your mob in a straight line for 5-10 cells and casting the OB one panel next to you in the direction they are coming from. 

 

As for the weapon, Hunting Spear is a great starter spear.  I'd throw an Andre Card for +20 ATK (useful in all situations) into it and throw some quick Malangdo enchants on it (if you need info on that, that's a whole 'nother topic)...  And finally, Spear Quicken 10 is essential for best OB damage.

been using google to know what good card can i use with my +7 Hunting Spear and i read somewhere that HF card is kinda nice to use since OB has a huge damage but that was way back in 2011 so i would like to know your opinion since i dont have a +9 RWH and WPH,im using a a +7 turkey hat and my budget is only 120m w/c is not good enough for good headgears so my alternative route was fricco shoes and im recovering 1.6k ish with white pots.

 

then i read here that andre card is good.ahm are there any alternative cards for solo OB leveling that i can use?since i think andre card is a waste?i dunno im not pro correct me pls if im wrong

I don't got a +9 RWH but +7 is still good enough for me for now.

Actually, HF card into that +7 HS [1] is a pretty good idea, I like it.  People say that Andre card is a waste because Hillslion Card gives +25 ATK without the SP drain that Zipper Bear Card gives with +30 ATK.  Another reason is that Hunting Spear is Malangdo enchantable, if you don't have Malangdo enchants on your HS yet, it's the best thing you can do for it really:

I'd shoot for high Fighting Spirit enchants to give yourself extra ATK and HIT earlier on, and throw a Hunter Fly Card in there.  Anytime you're mobbing to kill with Overbrand, you're likely taking some damage.. extra ATK from Andre wouldn't always be needed, but HFC will almost always be useful in PvM situations.

 

But, side note... HFC into an Imperial Spear?  I wouldn't ever do that :v  Lemme know when you get around to making more spears for help~
