I thought I know the answer to these questions, but I don't. Can someone please elaborate?

 

Does max SP effect Gates of Hell?

Does having high STR (100+) improve Gates of Hell?

The red and blue parts work differently(red like normal skills and blue like dragon breath except it's neutral instead of fire)

Or a more urm, short version of elaboration, tl;dr Max SP does affect the damage of Gates of Hell, however,

 

not as significant as what the HP modifier would affect GoH.

Edit:  A good balance of HP/SP is nice to try to take advantage of the modifiers, taking Gfist into account as well, the Max SP would help alot there.

The only "downside" i'd say with a high Max SP is that, your GoH is costly in SP terms - needing considerably more SP items to pot it back compared to a lower Max SP Sura and if assuming this Sura is in WoE, costly indeed if you dish out alot of GoH/TC (costly for me at least )

An example: Some quick tests on my own Sura

1. With Wargblood -_-tail + SP increase (Large) vs
2. Without Wargblood -_-tail + SP increase (Large)

So the idea was just to see if i can determine how big of a difference would there be in terms of GoH/TC damage with those 2 SP buffs compared to a GoH/TC without them.

I tried my best to maintain full HP/SP everytime i cast GoH/TC on the same target with same equipments on both sides.

I'm sorry i forgot what was the difference in terms of my Max SP at the time of testing but what i could remember from the results after a few tries to in an attempt to get an average result,

The result was:

1. I get somewhat 1~2k damage increase with each GoH with the 2 SP buff items mentioned (those 1~2k could prove to be significant in situations)
2. However, not everytime there was a difference in terms of damage, it could be that some factors were not controlled, causing the difference and fluctuations in my results.
3. I did not really try to conduct a very strict test as i only wanted a rough idea of what kind of difference i may see.

So...after doing this clumsy test of mine, i know to maximize my damage output with GoH/TC, i'd have to spend zeny on Wargblood -_-tail and SP increase and also more Light Blues that i'd have to purchase as well to go along with my higher Max SP, requiring more Light Blues to pot (there's Ygg Seeds too).

Thus, my decision was to dump SP buff consumables usage on my Sura because erm...i'm cheap *blush*

Wargblood -_-tail will cost me some zeny for all the WoEs i do...and i save alot of Light Blues over time (i think)...urm... yea, bottomline is... i'm too cheap >o< *blush*

 

Oh and, i also rarely use a Gfist nowadays if not never so i can cope with the Max SP loss :v
To try to be absolutely sure for a Gfist kill, all sorts of SP item buffs are recommended still :v

Just noticed an error in my previous post.

The red part gives the % of attack used and the blue part gives the damage directly.

 

Also,picklee,i don't know why you had to do all that work.The formula tells you that hp contributes more to the damage than sp(simply because we have much more hp than sp).

Simply because if i never done the test i would keep on bugging myself pondering: just how much difference is there with Max SP differences (because i want to cut costs on warg blood -_-tail, light blues etc. and wondering if i should as it would potentially lower my damage output :v)

I know that HP mods affects more than SP mods, and i know that having more Max SP would help but i have to find out just how much really in game conditions because there's too many factors involved in the calculations should i be wearing equipments and also my punchbag wearing equipments and because in WoE, i would be wearing equipments and my opponents would be...I opted not to be naked in the tests because i'd like to find out the results with what I would usually be using in WoE conditions against a decently geared opponent in WoE as well.

In a nutshell, against all odds that i'm an Asian, i suck in calculating and rather just go whack some people as tests in battle situations and grab the results there :v
