I've read about scout's casting animation speed for some skill are increased to be faster,

Like the title above, i think dealer's sniping skill casting animation speed is so slow, sometimes it's make my dealer stucked :pif: (can't move)  on aiming position while using the sniping skill, can you make the same thing for this dealer's sniping skill, increase the casting animation speed ? :thx:

Getting stuck mid-animation is a bug that every class is able to experience, regardless of casting speed. They are still trying to find the cause of this bug.

I think most dealer-gun skills have relatively similar speeds, so it makes sense for sniping to take longer since you have to "lock on" to the target, so to speak, as a sniper.

The reason Sniping was given a longer cast time is because the shot is a guaranteed critical strike, regardless of crit rating you possess, or your target.

It definitely needs a faster cast animation though. Forced crit (for gun bourgs this will be 50% extra damage) can be useful, but with its low base skill power and strenuously long casting speed, it doesn't really do much  good.

Crit in combination with def pierce can be quite powerful though. that portion shouldn't be overlooked.

It can be powerful, but let's not forget that that def pierce counts all the time, for all their attacks. Snipings casting time is far too slow compared to their rate of attacks (especially with the new attack speed buff), making it a pretty worthless skill.

But when compared again a raider / axe champ, that you never crit on, it's quite handy.

What I mean is that even when it crits, it will still deal less damage than other skills cause of how slow it casts.

One low skill power attack that crits and deals not much more damage than an auto attack or five auto attacks? I'd just go with five auto attacks, does a lot more damage in the end.

Well yeah but you're factoring in external buffs. I'm talking about from a class design perspective.

Even without external buffs, with using the bourg attack speed buff (can be used all the time so practically a passive) you attack a lot faster than you skill.

And what about for Battle Artisans, they have access to sniping, but not the Aspd buff.

Their second class skills cast quick and deal more damage than sniping could ever do(due to higher skill powers, even with the forced crit sniping will still do less damage).

Yes but you can also burn through all those skills before their CD's expire and then are left if first class options

Doesn't change the fact that the slow casting time makes it one of the more useless skills there is. The long cooldown and long cast animation sniping has are not worth it.

Depends, Cast times void atttack speed, if you got your attack speed downed, and are without an asped buff, skills begin to take priority, and if al lyour fast-cast are on CD, you're left with 1 option, weaker melees at slow rate, or a longer cast time skill with more damage.

So in this incredibly rare occasion that your attack speed is lower than 50%, sniping might not be worse than using melees (which still do about the same damage as sniping does, or even still more).

It does deserve a faster casting time. The only forced critical that is actually worth it is impact arrow since it has 305% skill power, but sniping at its 150% does not do much.

True, but it is also a first tree spell, isn't Impact the end tree Scout AP skill?

It is a first tree spell, but it seems kind of odd to me that just cause it's in the first tree it should have no use at all.

All it takes is a small boost in casting speed to make it more up to par.

Honestly, I think it should get a boost in speed, Skills in general need to keep in competition with melee attack speeds.

I was just making sure everyhting else was also taken into consideration, and Leonis has said himself, he wants all first tree skills to continue offering something to the end game experience. If Sniping isn't providing that, then yup, it should be looked into, as long as other factors about the skill don't get overlooked.

Well I'm pretty sure I've missed nothing about this skill in particular.

When it comes to forced crit skills, I would also like to point out the skill critical shot, in the crossbow knight skill tree, which has the same problem as sniping does. Although it has slightly more skill power (175%), it stays a rather long cast which does not make it very useful.
