If it's possible, we would need to request the language "packs" from the other servers. Which languages would you guys like?
Posted 16 April 2014 - 01:46 PM
i think the best option would be to request all of them, but if it comes to per cost basis then grab the most heavily used languages.
french
german
spanish
i would imagine.

I was informed that it could be possible to get the other languages such as french, German, etc out but it would require a client build.
We'll update ya as we get more information.

ShazamO: You don't need new build for that. For the current version the only thing needed is to copy the xml.dat file of the specific language client to the current DragonSaga client. Better make a copy of the original xml.dat file before overwriting it with the other one, just for the possibility something goes wrong.

Works perfectly fine to me.
All Quests, Quest Texts, Menu Texts and items are now German. Only exception are the pet names, those stay still in English language.
But that's not a problem to me personally.
Oh yes, the open market search stays English. That means a soul is a soul and when you search for it, you must use the English term.
Seele, it's soul in German, cannot be found via the market search. But except that, open market is just fine.
As Yuri told me there can nothing be done from the client side to fix the language. Because the search itself is done directly by the server itself.
And since the server database is English, sure is, nothing can be done.
Cash Shop (Item Mall) stays completely in English too, though. But that's okay, you got enough pictures there that show you the item. I never had a problem to use the Item Mall. Actually it's looking pretty good and the item text is easy understandable.

Oh interesting yurioj75.
That will be looked into. So, it looks like you guys can do that but once a patch goes through or a new item goes on to the server.. that player won't be able to see the name at all.

ShazamO: That is the thing I told you in my PM. :-)
It will work but someone has to do the translations when texts will be added into the client or on the server.
This issue I've expected.
Btw, to all: When the client has been updated, there is a big chance that the copied xml.dat will be replaced by the original english one.
Then you have to decide, whether you keep the english one or replace it again by the one of your language, with the possible lack of some new texts.

There can be some problems using another XML file.
First problem is: All of the items in the open market can only be searched by it's english name, no matter what language your XML.dat file is
Second: We had a case where an event NPC was still visible but the event wasn't available
Third: A possible update could break the altered xml.dat file and would break the game, or the languages could be mixed up
Please keep all that in mind if you decide to use an alternative xml.dat file.
I recommend to get used to the original english texts.

I do not see how this could damage the file ...Just simply keep a copy and not to apply the update !!!
The XML file does not only contain language related things. If there are updates - maybe content wise someday - the XML file gets additional data, which is erased when copying over the old file. On every update which updates for example quest related things, the content of the XML file is merged and/or modified.
I won't discuss that with you further, as I already said, you can do what you want. But if the game stops working some day, don't try to get support if you have non-original files. I just said, I wouldn't recommend to alter any game files. It's the same as with warranty on goods, if you change something your warranty is void.

I just noticed that he could not only have damage in the XML but also in the basic script !!!!

I think it is possible to create a multi-language file to allow all players to play in the languages they want
At the moment such a project is not possible, because the problem with the item search in the open market will still apply.
But I think if there will be a plan to make this game multilanguage, we will get back to you.
Thank you for your offer.

I am interested how's this working... A little bit more german would be nice xD
Posted 03 January 2015 - 08:00 AM
Does anyone still have the latest german xml.dat? Would be nice if someone could upload that.
Posted 03 January 2015 - 09:41 AM
I would not recommend to replace the original english xml.dat by any other. It can cause problems in case of future updates and you have NPCs standing around which have no sense, etc. Besides this all searches in the open market must be done in english names, although the market shows up the non-english ones.

hey any download for the german file? and where i have to drag it?
Posted 22 March 2015 - 05:42 AM
The old German xml.dat file seems not to be working anymore. At least not for me. I get an error message when I try to put it in.
Like I said previously -it might stop working someday- and I think this day has come.
There is no official German language file for this server, this server is English language only.
