So I was looking at my old UI mods, planning for a revamp + update to them, when I noticed something.

 

I opened my skill tree window, has some SP left often so I could see the (+) on the skills I had available to increase and I thought, It'd be nice to test the "pressing" image when you add a point, but I don't want to just spend SP to see the  effect.

 

 and it dawned on me.

 

We should seriously consider adding the option to "preview" skills in game. Not the animations, but the effects of adding SP. Similar to how our Creative Contraption calculators allow us to apply and remove SP from skills to super fine tune the build. That same feature of Apply points to see how the skill scales, and if you're not satisfied remove some/all and place into another one for preview. Once you are satisfied with how you have allocated/spent your SP you simply click "apple/accept" to save the SP to their location -no longer able to be adjusted-. 

 

I have seen this on quite a number of titles, I even think Dragon Saga [another WP Title] has this capability. Would be really sweet.

I would like to see something like this for stat points. Or better yet, when you do a stat reset, you click on a stat, and a box opens asking how many points you want to allocate to that stat. Then you just type in the number. I hate all that clicking!

The annoying thing abut stats though is that telling the system to add "50 str" when base is 15 is HUGELY different AP cost then saying "add 50 STR" at a base of 300STR.

 

So that would be ... an annoying algorithm to program. 

Though having a "+ & -" and "save / apply changes" to both SP & AP would make things so much more wonderful around these parts.

Well I mean like when you do a stat reset. You're already naked (gms are pervs), so say you want to max str. You could just type 400 and str would go to 400. But maybe like you said, it's not right since you start with some points in it anyway. Hmm but I am sure our genius devs could figure something out! :hmm:
