I have 4 things you could try out:
1. Go to your "My Documents" folder and delete the "Dragonsaga" folder you find there. Then try to restart the game.
2. Go to the folder you've installed the game. There you will find a folder with the name "Release". Go into it and delete the file "config.xml". Restart the game.
3. This is an almost impossible solution, but you could give it a try. I had this strange behavior with Dragonica on gPotato years ago. Don't install the game
to the default folder. Change the installation folder to a different one instead, for example "SagonDraga". Then try again.
I have installed my Dragonica to a folder named "Dargonica_N" (whyever) back then, and then it worked great. But this had most likely to do with the anti-cheat
system gPotato used (GameGuard) and it's isn't used here, but you can try it out although if you want, maybe you're lucky.
4. We heard of users having problems starting the game in fullscreen mode, so give the windowed mode a try.
It's strange that you can start the gPotato client but not this client. When all this doesn't work, we have to think about it again.
