I come from another ROSE server, and I used the forum a lot there - I was even a forum moderator in the last few months of the game. After seeing this forum and talking to other people who play the game, I came to the conclusion that the forum could use a major overhaul to be really user friendly. I realize we don't have the space to make a lot of tabs because the forum is shared by multiple other games, but I think with even using a little more frontpage space we can get a much better forum going.

Our current forum is split up in 6 subforums:

ROSE Community Chat

Game Discussions

Creative Contraptions

Technical Support

And lastly, 2 subforums for the closed test server Pegasus.

I can start with the 2 first subforums - their purpose is unclear to me. One is for talking about the community and the other seems to be for discussions. However, Clan Hall is under discussions while in my opinion, clans are the most important part of a ROSE community.

The marketplaces are also under Rose Community Chat, which is not organized at all. I suggest giving them their own Market Section with 2 subforums - Leonis and Draconis. Once you are in either of these subforums there are 3 more choices - Selling Section, Buying Section and Price Check. The old Leonis and Draconis marketplaces had 3 parts as well - Selling, Buying and the ability to create a topic right in the Marketplace subforum itself which makes it redundant as people posted both buying and selling topics there, and also price check topics.

In my opinion, we can get rid of the whole Discussions Section, and create a new section for new players. In here we can place both the Class Discussions and the Guides Section, as well as an Introductions section, so that we can get all new player posts with questions together - instead of all on a big pile in ROSE Community Chat.

As for the Creative Contraptions section, not much has to be done. Quest Submissions should be seen as a Suggestion and this can be put in it's own subforum. I would also create a new subforum named Modifications, for modifications and skins.

The last (active) subforum is Technical Support. This is fine as it is, if the Suggestions forum is moved.

The last 2 subforums, Pegasus Testing, can be hidden altogether. I might be wrong but I think the skill overhaul has long been rolled out, and there is no more point in keeping this around.

The layout as I see it would look like this:

ROSE Community Chat, with the subforums:

Clan Hall, Patch Notes Archive, Event Archive and ROSE International.

Suggestions, with the subforums:

Quest Submissions and Suggestion Archive.

Newbie Zone, with the subforums:

General Guides, Job Guides, Introductions and Class Discussion.

Creative Contraptions, with the subforums:

3D Creations, Player Screenshots, Player Stories, User Fan Art and Modifications.

Market Section, with the subforums:

Leonis Market and Draconis market - with both forums having 3 more subforums, Buy, Sell and Price Check.

Technical Support, with the subforum:

Bug Reports

I think these changes could hugely impact the usability of the forum, especially for newer players, which in the current forum setup have no place at all. The community here has been very welcoming to me and my friends so far, and it will only help Rose Online grow if the forum gives players the same feeling of friendliness.

We're committed to becoming an active part of this community and improving the forum would be a good way to help all players learn about the game.

In all Honesty as good as these suggestions are there isn't really a great purpose behind doing it, not a lot of people post to the proper sections anyway.

You would probably have better luck sending ShazamO a message about this since he is the one in charge of the ROSE Online section.

I'm from the same server as WH0MP (in fact, I was also a forum mod for a couple of years before being promoted in 2013 :P) and I agree that a revamping of this forum would make it 100% more usable for everyone, especially for new players. Granted, we are coming from a place where the forum was only for our game, not for several games as this forum is. But every game here seems to have it's own set up based on what each gaming community needs.

Since we have played Rose for many years, we have at least a general idea of where to look on the forum when we need an answer. But new-to-Rose players would have a pretty tough time finding what they need... or even knowing what they need in order to look for it. All of WH0MP's suggestions are solid, but the formation of a Newbie Zone is essential imo so people can introduce themselves and check out class discussions and guides and to learn about the game all in one convenient area.

I really think that this forum could become a lot more active than it is currently. For sure the players coming from our (almost gone forever) server are big "forum people" and being able to easily find the right section will encourage everyone to read and post.  It will certainly be a lot of work to redo the set-up of the forum, but I truly believe it will be well worth the effort and hope these suggestions will be taken into consideration.  :)

yep i agree with whomp and honeybunz. for me this forum is 1 total mess.

i played rose for many years now and (alot of difrent servers) Always was checking forum everyday to see if there is some news about updates or just other things. here i dont like to check the forum because its 1 total mess and you can only find somting when you use search function.

so yea i agree with them to make the forum more clear and it would help new players alot witch is ofcourse good again for the game

I wouldn't mind an area on the ROSE Online Forums on where we focus on the "newbie" aspects. I'll see if it's doable.

somting else i noticed when you start the rose launcher and press on the forum button you get directed to here http://forums.warpportal.com but would it not be more logic that you would be redirected to http://forums.warppo...-rose-cummunity because if you start the rose launcher and press on forum that would probley mean you want to acces the rose forum and not 1 of the others

That would be great, and also a little more advertising of the forums in game to get it going a bit more again!

i miss somting like a annauncement part for the gm`s/dev`s

lik last few days with the server updates you need to read the hole topic to see if there is any news from the gm`s/dev`s if you just had a place where only gm`s/dev`s/forum mods could post and it only used to inform players it would be way better i think.

now people need to search for updates on the forum and somtimes updates are posted on the fourms but other times they are only posted on facebook i think this is not verry user freindly. i think status updates need to be posted on both places and need to be found easy

Yeah hjvg, I was thinking that also. It would not be as noticeable here to use status updates because those are shared by all of the games but it's too bad there isn't a way to post a banner across the top of the Rose section of the forum to alert the community in times like these. Or maybe something like a staff update area where all of the diff game admins could briefly post news or server info etc.

I like the staff update section of the forums idea. Especially right now.
