For fun, I was thinking of wrapping up Janeway by getting a TaeKwon Master.  However, after doing some research, I've discovered that post renewal these guys are basically garbage.  Should I be making a SL slave instead or keeping a it as a TK kid to do missions? (do people even bother with missions?)

Pretty much.

Taekwons were never meant to be particularly useful. However, oversights in the development of the skils led to players being able to abuse heat in particular, making taekwons competitive (but only against boss protocol enemies).

However, this damage doesn't scale well with renewal weapon mechanics or level differences up to 100+, making tkms more irrelevant than they origionally even meant to be.

Soul linker has some uses, particularly in woe.

On Classic yes; They're invaluable for leeching those last few trans levels on your main.

 

On Renewal they're completely and utterly useless except for EMB farming in TI, played only for nostalgia and novelty.

is the only thing that made them become useless in renewal is because of the gap with the monster's level right? or is there any other reasons?

I was hoping of leeching my other characters in juperos....
