Ok this has bugged me for to long. I know someone did a formula for defence cap long ago. I dont believe that formula is valid anymore as i believe it pointed to 2700 being the defence cap. In my experience on multiple classes id say i stop seeing any major difference in damage reduction between 3400-3600. I feel this so much so that my avenger with ball sits at 2.6k but i still use defence ornament to take him to 3.2k defence. So im looking for feed back on this. The old formulas where tested before trinity weapons so i want to know if you feel cap is different now that people have such massive dmg , scad, cad in the game. The wiki formula is below:

Physical Defense (Def)

Is the total physical damage reduced when the opponent successfully hits the player.

  • The percentage reduced is as following:
    • Total Damage Taken = [22.994 * ln(Total Defense)] - 101.19
    • NOTE: A total defense of 6309 will yield the equation as, 100.0013 = 22.994 * ln(6309) - 101.19.
    • NOTE: There is an unconfirmed defense cap stated to be at ~2700 defense which will give an 80% reduction of damage and any increase will give diminish results.
      • More information can be found here.
  • S1 Defense: Physical damage was for every 10 defense reduces 1 melee damage.

Yep, I agree, wiki's formula is outdated. I haven't used the 2700 cap in years. Ive only looked at Hugh's model.

Someone should probably update the wiki with Hugh's entire model.

yea but even that formula is only for up to lvl 85  and from like 2012. Hugh's model needs updated to include lvl 90 id like to know if defence cap has changed at all since then.

i know a easy fix. make it over % like magic dmg and make a simple formula with that evasion/accuracy and all are happy.

Percentage damage reduction is given by 100*(Defense) / [(Defense)+Attacker LV *10)]. For CAD reduction the defense value is divided by 4.

To hit 80% defense resistance at level 90, using Hugh's formula,  you would need 3600 defense.  Feel free to test it.

so 85 lvl was 3400 cap. lvl 90 is higher? 3600 maybe? or maybe its still 3400?

Yea that link was in the first post, I suppose it is useful if someone hadn't clicked it yet.

I calculated for lvl 90 in my last post. 3600, just needs to be verified since that formula is a couple years old now.

Was what i was thinking my self at the start of this. So unless anyone else has anything to add wel say 3600 is the defence cap before it becomes pointless adding anymore. I my self have only really tested this on the superior elf race of course :D

Well I can say that the difference in damage reduction between 4k, and 5.4k and 7k is negligible. So the cap is def under 4k. I can also say there is a visible difference between 2.6k 2.9k and 3.4k. So the cap is def around 3.4 and 4. But if you plan on fighting warlords, good idea to have 6k lol...

i hate math...

but Devs said something already about changing cap...

they don`t like "low" cap cuz. lower cap = lesser needs for reinforce/enchant/compound $$

so lets just wait it out for now...changes come
