Hi,

I've successfully installed RO as instructed, and run the patch as administrator, all patches were downloaded, but when I click Play, I got this message:

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is this the error you get if you're missing some of the ms vc++ runtimes?

I forget. I think it might be...

The error code 0xC0000142 (STATUS_DLL_INIT_FAILED) means a DLL failed to initialise, but I don't think this error is generated as a result of the Visual C++ 2008 Run-Time Library not being installed.

yacsap, are you using any of Avast's security software? If so, then try temporarily disabling it and then test whether the problem persists.

Ikr, the cause of 0xC0000142 (is: STATUS_DLL_INIT_FAILED) that's why I ran sfc /scannow.

I have Bitdefender Antivirus, tried to disable it but still getting the same issue.

Issue resolved by uninstalling Bitdefender Antivirus, then change with Avast Antivirus.

In Conclusion:

Bitdefender did not detect RO1 as virus, but Bitdefender blocks some DLL dependencies, so RO1 cannot run.

This is pure antivirus problem, I also tried to run RO1 on Windows Server 2012 Datacenter Edition, it's running fine.

Installed on C:\Gravity\Ragnarok Online

Which DLL files does Bitdefender block access to?

Instead of uninstalling the software, you should have tried adding the affected files to the software's scanning whitelist and reported the false positive detection to Bitdefender.

In Bitdefender I add to Excluded Processes ragnarok.exe, sakray.exe, ragexe.exe and sakexe.exe and the folder of gravity. With that I can execute ragnarok, to install, I deactivated the antivirus and then tunr on.

I follow the step of the last post in the first page:
