Add a 50% damage reduction against boss protocol monsters when using these skills.

 

Add a further 25% reduction to all ranged attacks against boss protocol monsters.

i like

 

i legally abused the power of gene for years. laughed at other classes that arent gene ever since cart cannon has element.

Nice proposal.... To lose a lot of players who spent thousand of hours and dollars while building their loved gene/sura. Basically how to close the server in a month.

Oh, i forgot to add i don't even have a gene or a gfist sura. I only tried to imagine the practicality of this suggestion and its impact on this server.

However people built their characters over the years doesn't necessarily matter.

 

The health of the server is based on end-game content, and those skills alone trivialize MVPing to such an extent that it's possible to kill the highest tier (not including the new GH Instance MVP) 'bosses' in a few seconds.

 

In the case of GFist, it's possible to 1-shot many low to mid-tier MVPs.

 

The ranged nerf was specifically for Rangers, although it affects any class that takes on MVPs at range. I believe this is fair due to it being eminently possible to cheese MVPs at long range, sometimes without ever taking damage.

 

More discussion and perspective would be welcome.

I'd also like to mention that I have a Gen, and I find it disturbing how easy/cheap it is to kill MVPs and roll ET solo.

That is fine, but, no one will ever play a MVP sura again. Gene's will still win throwing 150k bombs. Give me more reason to bring my GX places xD

 

 

cutting bomb in half would just make noob gene's beyond powerless at comp, at least now a noob gene can beat a vet if he finds it first

The point is (in my opinion of course) that a huge nerf like the one you are suggesting will have a deep bad impact on the whole server. I agree that Genetics are OP when it comes to mvps and high end game istances/stuff but you must consider that people built their characters and spent a lot of zenys/dollars/time around genetics and suras cause of their power in these aspects of the game. Nerfing them would mean more balance for sure but also a lot of players ragequitting the game (i know a lot of players that will stop to play in the scenario you are suggesting).

It shouldn't really be possible for a new-ish, undergeared player to comp successfully against a veteran. They should start lower and work their way up to the big boys.

 

Maybe MVPs should be given a special MVP Defending Aura (in place of the 25% ranged redux and 50% skill redux) that functions against Acid Bomb, and the proc condition would be 60% activation: 'hit by a ranged attack'.

 

I'd still like to see Suras doing far less burst damage to MVPs though. Does anyone have a realistic idea for accomplishing this? I'm at a loss, and since I don't play Sura I don't know what would be 'balanced'.

Well tbh it's very common for MMOs to have specialized classes that excel at particular aspects of the game.

 

RO's problem is that they have several classes that are TOO good at particular things, making it possible to solo things that, on paper, should require a party of 5 or more.

 

We have a class that's good at practically everything, a class that completely murders everything in PvM, a class that makes bosses a cakewalk, a class that destroys PvP without any effort, and the rest of the classes are kinda meh in comparison.

Rune Knight-> murders in pvp/WoE with DB, can also fight well in pvm. Can support with runes.

Royal Guard-> great for defense, defending aura in WoE and sacrifice helps people survive DB, and can break peoples' gears with ppa and shield spell.

Archbishop-> valuable for healing and buffing, especially in pvm. Can do powerful magic damage on demon and undead with ME and adoramus(screenie in aco forum shows a 400k damage adoramus)

Suras-> best tanker in the game with MS. Many use this class to tank mvps while others dish the damage. GFist can do huge damage even on bosses, but requires good gears. Can fight in pvp/WoE with GoH too.

Mechanics-> able to provide support with madogear, but most importantly suicidal destruction wrecks in WoE. Suffers from losing the suit with each death and limited methods of healing, but can do its job well.

Geneticists-> overall simply a class that is too good. Great AoE moves for damage and Acid Bomb to destroy in pvm. Has support from homunculus for various buffs and hinders opponents in WoE.

Ranger-> gods of pvm. Arrow Storm demolishes huge waves of mobs and they can deal good dps through fear breeze, auto warg and high aspd. Can hitlock targets and prevent them from moving. Can also set traps like ankle snare to hinder.

Maestro-> Important in parties everywhere due to magic strings, making cast speed faster and reducing cast delay. Can use severe rainstorm to level, especially with temporal boots.

Wanderer-> Able to cut sp cost of skills of party members and increase their sp through gypsy's kiss, which is especially good in lower levels. Able to level like maestro, but has fewer roles to shine in.

Guillotine Cross-> Has a wide variety of poisons that can mess up opponents, especially in pvp and WoE. EDP is nerfed in renewal but still allows them to dish out huge amounts of damage with the appropriate skills. Has a high hp mod. Able to solo level till max using RC.

Shadow Chaser-> Unable to do huge damage and relatively weak in pvm, but is one of the most annoying enemies to fight in WoE due to masquerades, bloody lust and chaos panic. Also difficult to kill and have many tricks up their sleeve.


I agree that genes are overpowered at the moment, but when you look closely at other classes, they do have important roles, except maybe wanderer(not discriminating but they have less roles they can perform extremely well).

One class shouldn't be meant to be able do almost everything(which is what a gene is now) but I think it's wrong to say that "the rest" are bad in comparison...

I do think that some of the roles are quite niche though. Genes need some nerfing.

Wanderer do need some kind of buff in Endgame activities. BTW where are the Warlock and Sorcerer analysis in the Endgame activities?

Bako? Warlock kills it much faster than Sorc. Sorc is cheaper to gear though.

Tetra Warlock if geared properly can solo almost all MVP's such as Ifrit, Cecil MVP, Kraken etc.

What people don't seem to get is that the current MVPs were designed pre 3rd classes and the incoming MVP's are designed around the idea that GTB doesn't exist.
