What It Is: A group of associated players dedicated to making iRO a better place for the average legitimate player.

What it Does: Reports Bots, Verbal Harassment, Dead Branch Abuse, Skill Abuse, Bugs, Bug Abuse, Griefing, and other violations of the Terms of Service via replays sent through the ticket system. Also cleans up monsters spawned  by dead branch abuse/neglect.

Who Can Join: Any player in good standing who is dedicated to following and upholding the Terms of Service. Players should be high enough level to deal with Branched Monsters.

There would be NO compensation for this other than making iRO a better place. This is NOT a guild so Members would not feel restricted or feel they would need to leave their current guilds. Members will not be allowed to engage in verbal altercations with violators. Members would not be allowed to harass or grief violators. Members are to only record and report incidents and are not to otherwise interfere with players who are violating the Terms of Service. Members would be identified by a special ACCOUNT BOUND costume headgear. Members who engage in griefing or harassment of players (verbally or physically) would be stripped of their costume hat and would  face a 1 month account suspension.

Lets face it the GM team cant see everything on their own so why not have a group who can help. The Members would get no reward for volunteering for this position other than knowing they helped make iRO a nicer place to play. The Members would have no real power so there is no way to abuse it, and trying to assert power via harassment or griefing faces a lengthy ban ( a month). There whole purpose would be to observe and report Terms of Service violations and (hopefully) act as a deterrent to violators.

Any thoughts on this would be helpful. PLEASE NO TROLL POSTS

I love the idea, even if the reward is unnecessary and it's sad that people need vanities to be coaxed into helping.

I'd join if I still played Renewal.

well the costume headgear wouldnt be so much a reward as it is to show that the Eye Of Odin was present in the area... make the baddies feel they are being watched so they may be less likely to actually do bad things (obviously there will always be people who think they wont get caught)... if this was to work as i intend it to then people would fear getting banned more... and places like south prontera would be a much more civil place (people could still use DBs but would be much more responsible if they knew they were being watched by somebody who was going to report them for griefing/harassing/killing players"... the hats would essentially say "Yeah we are watching you and the GMs WILL see your actions)... of course it would still be up to the GM team to actually act upon the replays sent in

The costume headgear itself is pretty rewarding. +1'd the idea.

Btw, what's your opinion about people who volunteered as a member, got the costume, but not wearing it at all to bait the naughty players into doing bad things?

Ofc this could be easily identified if the volunteer talked or did something that 'lured' the naughty player into doing naughty things, but what about the silent ones that subtly lures them? In the end, the volunteer was only reporting a bad thing they saw.

similar to plainclothes/undercover police officers, you would achieve maximum effectiveness if you weren't wearing the costume in the first place.  the entire point is that the players would never know who might be watching when they decide to engage in bad behavior.  you're not baiting anyone.

This would almost encourage me enough to start playing again just to mess with you for laughs.

I definitely like the idea.  I think the costume headgear ought to be glowing blue eyes.  Basically just rip off the flashing eyes from the Robo Mask, get rid of the mask part, recolor it to be blue, and make it a costume.

I wouldn't necessarily say so. Towns with the fewest crimes, discounting areas within the higher socioeconomic range (and therefore aren't likely to experience much crime) also have the highest numbers of uniformed patrols.

The thing is, they ALSO have plain clothes officers on the beat. Entirely one or the other is a bad idea.

since the members would be capturing replays they would be capturing proof of their own baiting... the replays help ensure that the violators actions are caught as well as showing that the member wasnt baiting or harassing people...

once we get the ingame report feature it would make Eye of Odin's Job even easier... i just want the game to be a nicer place to play... and i would hope there would be a few other individuals who would be willing to do that as well... i know there are a few people who work to do so but it would be nice if we had some sort of organization that would allow us all to work together towards that goal...

I'd be glad to help if I had any faith in the GMs' will to step it up and condone this type of thing.

But I don't really..
