I too am one of those who disconnect every 60 minutes like clockwork. Without fail, you can time it exactly.

however, after much research I stumbled across a website that helped! Now, I wouldn't be posting this if I hadn't tried it myself. I have done, and at 10AM I was able to connect, and stay connected and it's now nearly 4pm. No disconnection! w00t!

However, this doesn't work around for the "other" disconnections like the DDoS attacks and server downtimes etc. It's for those of us running Windows 7. It's a very quick burst of a disconnection for like a second. but it's enough to interrupt the connection to RO.

This is what I found..

Method 2: Reset Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

The reset command is available in the IP context of the NetShell utility. Follow these steps to use the reset command to reset TCP/IP manually:

1. To open a command prompt, click Start and then click Run. Copy and paste (or type) the following command in the Open box and then press ENTER: cmd
2. At the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

3. Reboot the computer.

So if that looks a little complicated, heres what to do..

Click Start, and the box at the bottom with the magnifying glass, type CMD and enter.

a black text window will pop up

it will look like this

==

Microsoft Windows [version 6.1.7601]

Copyright © 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved

C:\users\(Computer name)>

==

Where it says c:\users etc type netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

It will look like this C:\users\(Computer name)>netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

then press enter. then type exit and hit enter.

Restart your PC and boom all done!

I know there are a few people that have been suffering the hourly disconnects and it appears it's a common problem with Windows Update. For some reason, it seems to get affected when patching iRO after maintenence. It doesn't happen every week but when it does, it's seriously annoying. this should fix the 60 min disconnects.

I noticed this thread a while ago an i tend to think most people don't feel like touching it.

Including me...and by that I mean NO offense.

You're basically sending way too much information in the general gamer's way - Technically speaking :)

And even so... I would never ever touch any of those commands.

if your computer is not working per factory specifications... under 3 years of age...

Update your drivers. :)

... or wonder what you purchased.

It's just a fix from Microsoft themselves. basically your network card burps because it can't read something correctly. So it stops, then restarts. that's what the hourly disconnections are.

The command line doesn't do anything other than stop the flag that makes the disconnection.

My laptop is only 8 months old.

However, feel free to read through it here I didn't post it all because it wasn't needed. and it looks quite confusing.

Thanks a lot for posting this. I'd never heard of this fix (or really, any explaination whatsoever for this rare issue) - I'll keep that in mind next time someone has this issue.

The reason nobody was touching the threads regarding the hourly disconnects is that nobody has an f'ing clue how to solve the problem.

As OP said (and as has been the case with previous people reporting this issue), this issue is not specific to old hardware, and I think in at least some cases, people have reinstalled drivers to no avail. If this fix actually works for others, it would be the first working fix I am aware of for the disconnect-every-x-minutes issue.

Just noticed your post to this, since I'm refering someone to it as they have a similar problem.

Yes, Myself and 6 others (Or was it 5?) have managed to get rid of the 60 minute disconnections using this method. Before this I tried everything, restarting, re-installing etc and it just didn't work. This however, stopped it instantly. I was skeptical because it was just one command line to change things, and a simple restart after. The registry editing isn't needed, that's for a more complex issue (Which thankfully I haven't had to endure) It's just the broadcast burps that was causing a problem.

This thread is for people who disconnect regularly, every X many minutes - not who just disconnect frequently, but without any specific pattern.

It sounds like you just disconnect frequently without any pattern - which simply indicates poor network connectivity. In that case, the fixes in this thread will not help; instead, you need to figure out what is wrong with your internet connection and fix it. The first thing to check is to switch to a wired connection to your router instead of using WiFi - wifi is often the weakest link in home networks. Feel free to start up a new thread if you need more help investigating this.
