is there a limit to how much a skill can do in a single hit (for example, 999,999)?  Just curious, since I see theoretical numbers going beyond 1 mil per hit here.

it can go over 1m

however, the pop-up numbers will just show up as 999,999

to see the actual damage dealt, check your battle tab

Thanks to everyone who contributed and especially ka10. I'll summarize and write up some conclusions and add them to the Original Post along with my testing and findings for my particular gear set and ease some myths that are roaming around forums (such that brynhild can up you to the 1m mark, without Meg's)

AFAIKnew, Sura Gauntlet's are good if you have 120 base STR, if not, use D. Rings.

I remember making a somewhat coherent GFist calc (in a spreadsheet) a while ago. I'll see if I can clean it a bit or make a small app and then I'll put it here.
