I figured I should, start a thread here, even though I posted this on the maintenance thread.

Is anything at all being done to fix the constant d/c's. It's NOT ddos related and/or the ISP. If this was the case it wouldn't keep happening only one character at a time. This time it happened to my chat, 1st floor of Eden, but NOT my character in Prontera. Earlier today it happened while my character was in the middle of a pm, in the Kitchen, but not to the one with the chat room 1st floor Eden.

I also know this is happening to many others, I've talked with, through out the day.

How long do we have to keep dealing with this before something is done?

Do you have satellite internet or something, I've never heard of so many problems.  I can't remember having near that many problems even as far back as when I started with a 56k modem.

Now the one that was idle in Prontera, was d/c'd, but the one in Eden is still connected. I'm also not restarting the clients. All I am doing is logging back in.

No, I have a very good ISP, Verizon FIOS. I am also hard-wired. If it had anything at all to do with the ISP, the laptop I am using, etc..., this would NOT cause only one client, to be d/c'd at a time.

I'm not the only one having problems & being d/c'd either. This has been going on for weeks. That's why they did the Exp Event last week, as compensation for the problems, which was pointless, since there still were, & are problems.

One thing I have noticed myself, is that if you are Dual Clienting, When you are using 2 or more clients, the one that's in the foreground will have a disconnect message, the one in the background won't and appears to still be connected. However, if you leave it long enough it will eventually timeout and say disconnected.

When you disconnect, do you notice if you get a slight "blip" in your connection? If you are running windowed mode, and in the bottom right hand corner of your screen with the network connection, does it go off and on in a burst of like a second? (It can be missed!) I know of one of the problems is (USUALLY after maintenance) is that it will disconnect on the hour every hour. you can time it with precision. That, is a fault of Windows and there is a fix for it from Microsoft themselves.

I can run 5 or 6 clients with no slow down or disconnects, in fact I had 3 just a few days ago connected for a few days before I closed them to do a reboot.  If you don't think your PC can cause connection issues you're sorely mistaken.  Also a misconfigured firewall or virus scanner can cause your socket to drop too.

Nope in fact it just happened to the one in Eden. This happens when I'm tabbed & on Firefox. I forgot to mention I also closed my clients, & re-opened them,  after Eden was taken down. I know there can be problems after maintenance too, that's why I run the patch, close it after, & start it again, before logging in.

I can also run 3 clients at a time w/o problems. I just have no need to run that many at a time usually. I wasn't saying "MY" PC can't cause a connection issue. I was saying it has nothing to do with "MY" PC. I'm actually on a Laptop atm but the same thing happens when I'm using my PC.

I am very familiar with computers & networks. Yes "A" PC can cause connection issues. This just isn't the issue here especially when it's happening to many users.

Like Izzy just said it happens to him.

Hopefully more people will read this & reply. Problem is there are many that don't even read the forum at all.

Just in-case, I'm going to refer you to This Thread See if that helps. It's what worked for me, and I haven't had disconnection issues since. (Apart from the obvious server downtime from DoS attacks)

I would be very careful with that, especially method 3 if you don't know what you're doing.  The commandline one won't work for everyone, updating the drivers is always the safest option, sometimes windows generic drivers suck.  I don't use Windows 7 so I can't speak to this.

I'll say it again, the majority of people aren't having a problem, you say its not your ISP (though taking your word on it since no traceroute or tcpdump was provided), then the only option left is the client (the PC).

That does remind me I forgot to try to see if that regedit fix helps.

I'm currently running XP & in the process of upgrading to Win7 on my PC.

I just about spit Pepsi all over my monitor. I used to work in a call center taking inbound calls for Verizon. They may not be as bad as TWC, but "Verizon" and "good" still shouldn't be used in the same sentence. The boxes they use were always having problems and had to be reset. This was a good 7 years ago, maybe? So maybe they got the bugs fixed. But I highly doubt it.

Do you have cable services from Verizon as well?

Verizon FIOS is 100x better than TWC. I rarely have issues with it compared to when I used TWC.

Just because you worked, at the call center, doesn't mean you know the quality of service. I've worked at call centers before & most calls come in from people that don't know what they are doing. I've the Verizon FIOS bundle for over 10 years, cable, internet, & phone. Not only is there Cell Phone service the best but you can't get a better Internet connection speed. I currently get 80mbs/30mbs.

Sure any services have bugs. I've got the newest router, they came out with, & I've also had the main box replaced, with the newest they have. The old box had a problem with the backup battery was all. As long as you keep the equipment up to date, you don't, & won't, have problems like that.

True & understatement! TWC & most of the rest suck. FIOS is better than anything else out there.

I never said I knew the quality of service. I have helped people work through very... persistent, unique problems, though. And a few times, I've had to schedule techs to go out and check and/or replace the boxes. But seeing as how my question went unanswered, you obviously don't want help trying to figure out what it is that keeps disconnecting you. Instead you just want to keep complaining and saying it's the servers. Okay, go for it. Your complaints are obviously falling on deaf ears already, and this would be why. I hope your arguments are helping to troubleshoot your connection.

Just because I posted about this problem still existing, for many people, other than myself, has nothing to do with anything. If you recall they put in the 1.5 Exp Event to compensate for the disconnects, & downtime, that were happening the previous 2 weeks.

Just a thought but you might get someone to come physically check the grounding like an electrician...so many times I've seen that happen to people and it can cause interference if something isn't properly grounded.

I'm in an apartment. So I can't really do that but I have my Router plugged in to a UPS.

Can we have a show of hands from everyone else affected by Razzez's problem, in order to find a commonality?

This is what I've been hoping for.

I just noticed something new. While I was afk, the two clients I had in Eden, both received Time Gap Errors, however my 3rd client in Prontera did not. I'm just wondering if all the others, saying they don't have this going on, are not afk in Eden :/

While I have brought up this issue, about the Time Gap Errors, in the past, this is different. I stopped having them once I used a 3rd party program like Lowerping. Even when, or if, I did have them then, it wasn't happening about every hour or less,  every day.

Edit: Now the Prontera one was d/c'd & Eden one not :/

I think a poll should be started to see how many people are receiving d/c and/or Time Gap Errors. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of actual "Players" that browse the forum.

Aside from a wee bit of lag after last maintenance, my disconnections have stopped.

Really glad about that actually. Also the spam filter is working flawlessly - just thought I'd throw that in there as well.

Actually, I made that comment as a biased observer from the view of someone who's worked in the call center. Yes, I did say that "good" and "Verizon" shouldn't be used in the same sentence, but when a call center that has about 50 contracted employees just on my shift field thousands of calls ranging from no services working to people not knowing what it means when the remote doesn't work, you kind of get the feeling that the services are worth crap. And I also noted that this was around 7 years ago.

I feel the same about all cable/internet services, really. But like I said, it's a biased opinion, and I don't claim to know how well those services work in a normal household on an average day.

It's also noteworthy to mention that I've also worked as an install tech for a contractor for TWC. I've seen some terrible situations, like previous techs using two amps in a house, using three or more splitters on a line, etc. I've even seen shoddy internet service and pixilated/tiled cable services improve 10000% just by changing a fitting. One fitting. I've seen squirrels chewing through lines, I've seen cable services being grounded to, of all things, gas meters, etc. So yeah, I think it'd be wise to do as Inubashiri suggested and ask your landlord to call and have a tech come out, especially living in an apartment where your sharing cable services with each of those people in the apartment.

But hey, what do I know? After all, all these non-forum users must be right, despite the fact that most forum users are just getting lag and random disconnects, or have gotten their "every hour, on the hour" problems fixed already.

BTW, the EXP event was from the disconnects due to the DOS attacks. And no, you never did tell me if you had cable services. By cable, I meant cable TV.

I guess you're right in a way. I should have said Verizon is a "Great" & provides "Great" service ;)

The amount of calls that come in to a call center has absolutely nothing to do with the quality. 've worked for Call Centers too, & close to 90% of the calls, are from users that don't know what they are doing. For example, I've experienced many calls from people that simply don't have power plugged in, and/or cables plugged in wrong. I'm sure you've experienced the same.

I know what you mean especially with TWC. I've also installed telephone outlets, in house & businesses, & have seen the same.

My Verizon box is plugged into a dedicated power outlet. Also I don't have any trouble with my Cable Service from them. I'm not sharing either with other people in my building. I believe you are thinking about phone lines, which are shared, from one apartment to the other. My building only has 4 apartments that are connected to one another.

I also don't have a "Lanlord". Apartment complexes, like the ones I live in, have Managers, & are owned by a large company, that owns multiple other apartments.

BTW look back at my very first reply to you. "I've the Verizon FIOS bundle for over 10 years, cable, internet, & phone." That means I have cable service too which means Cable TV ;)

My only comment about Inubushi's suggestion, was that I didn't have a way to have someone come out & check the "grounding like an electrician", since I live in an Apartment, & that I didn't have an Electrical issue, that was causing this.

It's pretty much impossible, to see how many others are experiencing d/c's too, based on this post. We can try to get a better idea once next weeks maintenance thread is posted, & possibly Tiki Tuesday. I for one only read those two threads on a regular basis. The only time I post and/or look for something, in "Community Chat", is when I have a question. I really only do searches for things I am looking for. You can also tell by the view count that not many people have read this. I would also venture to say a lot of the views are from the same users.
