Could we bring back the system where it was necessary for at least 1 cleric to join each team before a game can start? 

 

At the moment there are a lot of one sided boring matches because one team will be missing a cleric and one side might have like 2 or 3 clerics, sometimes 4 clerics. The old system was good when it sorted out the clerics evenly, and differentiated between full-support clerics with buffs and ones that didn't (BCs).

I thought reducing cleric participation in CD is what everybody wanted. Anyway, it is not very favorable for the cleric to participate in CD at the moment. You can say that a cleric like me is very much giving up on CD. Why? There are many reason.

First, the team component is mostly raiders and range character. It is a royal pain to keep them alive.

Second, no support for cleric. I have said it, and I will say it again. To prove their killing power, most players would ditch the cleric without hesitation. It is worse with the raider and scout situation when they stealth it away and expose the cleric to the enemies.

Third, cleric is always the first target. The cleric is also the first to die. The main reason for its death is also the raider. Raider stack effect is devastating to the cleric. Worse, it is often too late to notice the raider thanks to its stealth. Worst,the cleric's defense cannot hold and keep it from dying.

Four, few reward. Playing cleric is a hard job. It is often be bullied by both of it's enemies and team members, yet the rewards are few. Low points and thankless job, who would want those? I found it would be much easier to play other class in CD than playing my cleric.

Remember, you guy were asking for it.

why did people ask for it? ive never had any of those problems as a cleric in CD. and some of those problems just come with the job. of course we're going to be first targets, killing us is usually key to winning a match. it can be hard work but thats what makes it fun. i always thought the rewards were very appropriate.. less cleric participation doesn't make any sense at all, we need them.

Agree, it is very hard to keep the wandered off hawkers alive, the only thing you can do is to talk in group chat, telling them to stay back and give them the best buffs while you could to ensure everyone perform the best for your team.

If you team is 80%+ hawkers, you might as well just hide in crystal all the time (defending) or stay in spawn (attacking).

Your screen will shake if you are under attack by criticals, you should notice a raider is attacking you without any problem because cloaking only provides 6 attacks cloaked. Cleric / Mage / Scout are always the first target, not just cleric.
Cleric has sufficient defense to hold its ground, unless you are under attack by 3 katar raiders at once, in that case that's different story. Use your sleep cloud carefully.
 

 

Four, few reward. Playing cleric is a hard job. It is often be bullied by both of it's enemies and team members, yet the rewards are few. Low points and thankless job, who would want those? I found it would be much easier to play other class in CD than playing my cleric.

 

I think Clerics are rewarded the most whether the cleric play bad or play good. If the cleric perform badly, your teammates will not be any better than you either.







But regarding the cleric requirement for CD, it sounds good to have the requirement back since every war is like no cleric or imbalanced clerics. The reason why such requirement was removed because of how it slows down the queue process, but I honestly don't understand why that is the case either. What's the point to have a CD rush started if there is not even a cleric.

I think right now, there aren't many clerics playing because there isn't much incentive to play CD, since all the 200 honor gear are saturated, the people that play CD right now are just new or just playing it for fun once in awhile.

As long as clerics are still responsible for the role of providing buffs/heals, they will be a critical element to the outcome of a battle, and people have been asking the cleric requirement to be reinstated, but Leonis didn't do it, perhaps he has another plan for it.

An auto buff stage has been suggested, but Leonis say it isn't possible. Adding cleric requirement back to CD might be a temporary solution for the current situation, but in the long run, we still need to deal with how clerics become the driving force of ROSE. You can't play this game (PvM/PvP wise) without a cleric.

There are lot of area where we can argue in your post, but I think it is pointless since I cannot change your way of thinking as you cannot change mine. Let's the fact prove itself, and the fact is lot of clerics have been ditching CD similar to the fact that you ditch the cleric class. You can also make the cleric and join the war. It will balance thing out.

It was changed because people were complaining that CDs didn't start in a timely fashion. So they took the cleric restriction away, and this is what we have now.

oh ok :/ but I'd much rather it started with a cleric on each team than waste my 3k energy on a one sided game! one sided is an understatement. people end up leaving out of boredom and we stand around for 15 minutes riding around on our mounts. we might as well not have joined at all! so it makes no difference

also im just gonna go out on a limb here and say that it might not necessarily be the fault of the class so much as the player's inexperience of playing that class

They don't even need to have a cleric requirement.  They just need to find a way to evenly sort all classes.  That would, essentially, fix most of the problems except for the situation which would land one team with a cleric and the other team with none.  But.. Beggars can't be choosers(they could always throw in an npc that full buffs :))

thats an interesting idea haha, a buffing npc... it might make the IM buffs seem redundant though

or even getting buffs at all

The requirement was removed for various reason, the main ones being that they were the bottle neck of matches starting, when you had enough players by count to be able to initiate them otherwise.

 

The issue behind why it's being asked for is for "fairness" that each side have a Cleric, but forcing a Cleric to be on either side still doesn't guarantee that fairness is going to occur. The Cleric could be a battle build, or some other variant without the "necessary buff" to be identified as a support build.

 

If you want to have a Cleric on your team, group one, call in friends, clannies or recruit off the street, however you do it, you have the power to control a bit of who's on your team so try to make good use of it!

 

As for the reason why Clerics are so highly coveted, is because they have the one thing no other class has, healing. No other class has that ability at current, and it is something we're working on, so there is less reliance from Clerics as a whole for the role of support. We're working on designs and plans to help spread some of that responsibility in unique ways so they are less needed by name, but rather they can become an option for support for many who would care to take that role of support, but not take the time to play or create a support Cleric.

 

Through much of the efforts of skill and class balances, game play has shown to be evening out greatly over time, however as mentioned that aspect of providing healing for support is still locked down to one class, which places a high importance on that class, currently. Look for the coming updates as we begin to put effort behind this issue.
