Well me messing around with my umbrella for this month creative thing gave me an idea. Santa paratroopers. Bear with this goofy idea.

Around X-mas time along with the normal decorations. Random sprites of the cuter monsters like santa poring and the smokey one with parachutes. Maybe add lunatics yoyo and other cute ones and give them santa hats. Have them falling and when they reach the ground they turn into a special item. The item would be first come first serve with picking it up.

So many of that item combined with an item or items from a monster killed in the field can be traded for a colored santa hat. You get a choice of color blue, pink, green, ect.

The colored santa hat gives a chance of monsters dropping any of the items the flying crystals drop at a low chance of course.

Don't know if anyone else will like this idea but I thought it be cute

Don't know if it would be impossible since they make it snow in town. Knew it be hard programming always is. That's why I'm suggesting it soo early

Seems impossible. Snow effect is only some kind of a client-side screen overlay.

Interesting idea but impossible for RO1, sadly.
