I got an aspiring merchant that I'm leveling up and I intend to somehow muster up gear for it while I level. What I am curious about is what I should actually use.

 

I intend to stay as an Axe, no Mado for me. So far, my plan is to have the following:

 

+9 Vanargand Helm or +9 Rideword Hat - No idea what to card these with, suggestions?

+9 HBP (Orc Baby) or +9 Nidhoggur Shadow Garb (Immune)

+9 Ice Pick (EA 4+/4+, Zipper Bear) and +9 Pile Bunker, +9 Giant Axe or +9~12 Hurricane Fury - No idea what to card these with, suggestions? Hunter Fly is an obvious choice, anything else?

+9 Temporal Agi/Str Boots, Should I make them slotted? If so, what should I card them with?

2 x Medal of Honor, Any alternatives?

+9 Immune Shield (Alice) - For MvP:ing, any other suggestions? This is strictly for use with Ice Pick & Pile Bunker.

 

I would appreciate suggestions on the items above and then for middle & lower headgear as well as body armor. I am guessing some armor with +3 str enchant, valkyrian maybe?

 

Build I was thinking of using is probably the str 100~ agi 100~ vit 100~ dex 80~ and rest to luk.

Oh, no +9 Sea Captain? The SP leech can be taken from Nidh Garb (I bet it's gonna be tough tho since it's just as bad as +0 RWH). That's why I'd rather put a bit of INT.

I think HF should be the best one for Axe Tornado, while Pile Bunker is much better option for HSCR.

Temporal STR. I don't think you'll starve for ASPD... If Bear Power can proc from HSCR...

Robo Eye/BDM/Pegasus Ear Wing/Slotted mid with high tier/MVP cards... Lower one maybe Pirate Dagger/Gangster Scarf... Valk Armor should be good. Or maybe Diabolus for its +2 STR. Also enchantable.

I was thinking of Sea Captain, but I did read that I would be SP starved most of the time. Some int might work, I haven't gone into great details with stats yet, since I'm not sure about my gear yet and the amount of agi needed depends highly on the rest of my gear I guess. I was hoping of being at 193 aspd, though I can settle for less while wearing a shield (Pile Bunker). I also try to overlap my gears a bit, since I got a battle sorcerer, so going with temporal agi boots to start with (until I've actually gotten Nidhoggur etc.) was the goal. This is the reason why the HBP is on the list too. Is the str one better than lets say... variants (or e.variant with matyr/firelock). 30 atk does not seem that much, since I wont be getting 120 str (or will I?)

 

BDM is on my list of items to buy anyways (for my Sorc), so that should be good and of course Robo is easy to get if nothing else. What cards would you recommend for the slotted mid, from "high tier". Assuming no MvP cards. Also, what would you card on Valk Armor, Porcellio? Should I go with elemental carded valks or would it be better to just go with the elemental armors with Porcellio?

While sort of related, the thread offers answers to none of my questions. I am not looking to maximize my Axe Tornado damage (which seems to be what the thread is focused on), I am seeking advice on gearing my merchant.

 

The only bit of information there that is actually related to my post, is that Seyren is probably the best headgear card, but that seems to be only related to when you got a headgear thats like +12, I'd imagine +10 atk would be better otherwise. Or even Vanberk with 2 str and the crits, if I happen to do some auto-attacking at 193 aspd.

It happened to turn into axe mech leveling gear at some parts. :V

My gears are below par and I don't wear anything above 100m (except a +7 iHBP, and it only benefits from my 90 VIT), but still can dish 5~6k per tornado without converter. The delay isn't bad at all because I can tank the mobs just fine.

Like the other thread, if anything, you have HSCR and with enough aspd, you don't have to worry about a lot of things except consumables. I think Vana def owns RWH, and Nid Garb should help, but RNG God hates me so I tend to bring a lot of straws inside the cart. I pot with regular whites.

Yeah I'm trying to reuse as much as I can from my sorcerer, so that means I'll be leveling as agi based when I'm still non-trans. After trans, I plan to go for str/vit build and then bumping agi after I'm around level 100~.

 

The items on the list I have access to include:

So I am not much better for gear atm either. I have a access to a decent giant axe, but otherwise I am stuck gathering the gear for now. Which is why I am really interested in getting the right gear from the start. Vana or Rideword only probably comes after I've hit mechanic, so I still have plenty of time to gather the money. I would just like to get the list set up so I can do it in a reasonable order.

 

The items on the list are relatively expensive, so I was hoping of getting an extensive list (cards included), so I could buy them few at a time. I am also looking for interesting and viable options for them, that might cost less.

Well you can leave the slots for RWH/Vana open. If HF is too much, just grab a Giant Axe, it's what I'm using atm and it's not half bad. Utility accessories ain't bad either if you need more time to grab Merch's MoH.

I usually tank in TIs since I'm leveling another char on my weekends, so I wear a Loli Ruri-carded armor plus RoR. I always bash Axe Tornado button while tanking in-between the procs' delay. Sometimes alternated with potting. Hell, I don't even wear a shield while tanking and I usually spend less than ~100 regular whites per TI run.

With much less mob and Vana/RWH proccing, HP shouldn't really be a problem. SP, on the other hand, can run out really quick if RNG God hates you.

I got RoFL and Swift Bradium Brooch x 2 and Bradium Brooch of Double Power stashed away, so waiting for MoH is not a problem by itself. What utility accessories were you suggesting? RoR? What else?

 

How much int do you have? How much does the Loli Ruri proc for you? Is it really worth it to be used over lets say, Soul Collector (which is bound to help with the SP issues a bit). I was also considering using double Hell Poodle & Umbala Spirit and just using meat to spam myself in TI. Its really cheap, if a bit heavy. Another option would be Marc Armor and Snowier.

Considering the procs from RoR, I'd rather waste whites since it's a lot cheaper rather than having to invest on meat gears and waste some useful slots.

2 INT and 90 VIT, Idk which heal that procs, Loli Ruri's or RoR's, but it usually gives me 700+ HP. Earth Deleter should be more helpful offensively.

ASPD is not a big deal, tbh. Without intensive ASPD gears, I can achieve ~186 ASPD with Two-Handed Axe, which is just fine for casual PvM leveling. It helps you while you're out of SP.

If you were to actually read my posts in there, it would pretty much answer some of the things that you were concerned about including your sp problem. It's not just about maximizing axe tornado damage but pretty much about axe mech in general.

If you were to actually read my posts in there, it would pretty much answer some of the things that you were concerned about including your sp problem. I looked through the thread before posting this one. I have read through your comments and none of the things you said there gave anything new to the questions I asked. Now if you'd look through this thread and the original question I asked, you would know.

1. Mostly thought about leveling and general hunting, which is why I was looking at SP sustainability through the headgear. Some particular MvP-focused headgear suggestion would be welcome.

2. How would gemini really benefit a merchant with 100 total vit and 90 total agi? You should not get affected by most of the things it protects against.

3. Yeah, Zipper seems logical. Don't know about the usefulness of status effects, outside PvP. I'm not very PvP oriented, but if it proves to be fun I might spin the Mechanic in PvP for a bit more than MoH farming.

4.  Combat Knife still suggested, if we ignore PvP aspect? Bloody Axe sounds reasonable.

5. Non-slotted, Bears Power & EA Strength, sounds logical.

6. Would MoH not be superior to RWC accessories in almost every way? And would they not be superior to bakonawa tattoo too? Black rosary has its place, assuming with kafra bloom cards for elemental resist?

There is a lot of headgears you can use. For sp other than those 2, you can use valk helm. But wearing either one of those 2 with nid garb and incubus pet should be able to support your sp. for MVP, abysmal knight helm, lotd helm, or Anubis helm, cat ear beret depends.
2. How would gemini really benefit a merchant with 100 total vit and 90 total agi? You should not get affected by most of the things it protects against. Stone curse(specially against phreeoni). Don't be surprised if you still get status effects with those stats so you can also add other stat resist cards on your options. It's just other options depends on what you do.
3. Yeah, Zipper seems logical. Don't know about the usefulness of status effects, outside PvP. I'm not very PvP oriented, but if it proves to be fun I might spin the Mechanic in PvP for a bit more than MoH farming. It's actually fun to inflict status effects on monsters specially if you are being mobbed.

I forgot to add Diab ring in case you want hp.
7. Valk shield also only Alice card? Any other suggestions? Flame skull card. Same reason as I stated in number 3 but you would lose resist. If you know how to switch it right then it shouldn't be that bad. But that would only work if you are not lazy.

Is some other card worth it more? Maybe Peco Peco? Will the -5 def get outweighted by the damage increase? I would honestly have an armor against all kinds of elements first before worrying about anything else.

I guess it depends on how much you want to auto-attack. But 10% aspd and 5% atk is no joke, and this is not calculating any of the other benefits such as HP. The only thing it does not translate too well to, is HSCR, so using shackle combo or two RWCs with FS for that is probably better for that. Still, HSCR benefits from aspd as much as your auto-attacks, so its hard to say.

 

I intend to get two either way, but any good tips addition to that is welcome. RWC sounded decent, as pointed out by Memoir
