I know this is a silly question for all the veterans out there, but I recently started playing n decided to create a sage. Well, about job levels in (haven't spent any points yet) I was wondering how the skill "Free Cast" works. I understand I can cast while attacking and moving, but what if im being attacked? Will my casting turned off?

Free Cast allows to move and attack while casting, although somewhat slower (higher levels improve it). But it does not protect from casting interruption, which happens when one takes damage while casting.

I see... So for my purposes (say building a support-type sorcerer for PVE), would you consider it a good thing to put stats into? Initially I was building to become an amazing Mana Battery type of player, but then I realized that it may not necessarily be worth it if it doesn't stop interruptions.

If you don't plan on getting Foresight, Spellfist/Hindsight, or Double Bolt, then you don't have to spend any skill points on Free Cast.

Otherwise, it's helpful to 'dodge' incoming attacks in the middle of a cast and lets you dynamically cast skill in moving parties.

Being able to force your own ASPD down is also super useful in getting casts off under certain effects like leech end. It's hard to explain but it's because of when your damage occurs and leech end acts by having you hit yourself. You can actually get casts off easier if you have utter garbage ASPD (like 50 aspd) which you can get while walking with a rod on with free cast 1.
