Support/Caster Sorc advise please

Hi guys :)

 

I'm quite confused which build I should go for. I've found a lot of suggestions for spellfist and hindsight and pvm/pvp hybrids but no suggestion for a support/caster pvm build. Maybe there is a good reason for it that I don't understand yet, so I hope to get some advise.

 

I want the best possible "sorc aoe dmg" while being able to support my party with SP, dispell and striking - if that is possible and clever to do so. If not, I'd like to lean towards Dmg and a suggestion what build to go for. Spell Fist and HIndsight seem to be both fun, so what's the advantage/disadvantage there?

 

I also don't understand the use or better the situation / playstyle yet, because I haven't seen a Sorc in action yet.

 

The first questions that come to my mind are:

 

a) If I cast e.g. Volcano, does an Insignia effect apply on top? 

 

b1) Are Summons an important part of being a sorcerer? (I quite like that tbh. but is it viable? is it suitable for a caster/support build?)

b2) Should I also have a summon out for its buffs? 30k for a L3 Ventus doesn't seem to be a standard spell to cast.

 

c) Which Summons/Insignias should I go for? I have absolutely no clue how this is meant to be used oO Will I be forced to leave certain maps/mobs/bosses out or reskill especially for them? I think I've understand so far, that earth can be skipped?

c1) Is the skill Elemental Change the reason why Earth can be skipped?

 

d) Somebody patient enough to be Sorcerer Mentor? :)

get rid of foresight. Freecast is fine at level 1. Max your endows, get fiberlock, forget about hindsight. get ME level 3, Insignia's are useless IMO. You shouldn't be standing still long enough to kill in an insignia in pvm anyway. spirit symapthy level 1 is fine. its going to die anyway. No need for level 3, Level 2 ventus, and level 2 aqua should be enough. No need for agni, unless youre a pvm sorc and you want lvl 2 for endowed PWs then i'd get lvl 2 agni and tera. 

 

As for stats, if you can get instacast through equipment i'd do it. But in woe, i prefer woe set cause woe set + energy coat is a lot of reductions. 

 

a) Never used insignias. find them a waste of points and time.
B) yes and yes. Predominatly ventus for the faster cast. Aqua works well in woe.

c) Pvm, level 2 for all of them. Woe, ventus 2 and aqua 2. 0 insignias, unless you woe and want earth for more DB damage. 

 

d)depends. What build/skill layout you looking for. I have like 9 sorcs. 2 instacast stats woe build, 1 instacast (1 dex), 1 utalizing GH shoes (int),  1 utilizing Gh shoes (dex) , and one for low ti/mid ti/high Ti (and then a baby for fun)

 

I don't do spellfist, i don't do melee-ing, I do pure offense and hybrid offense/support.

Hi,

 

thanks for your suggestions - to clarify, I only intend to play PVM. 

 

- Isn't Foresight important for the AoE spells like PW, EG; DD? (Understood: Cast Gear later on takes care of that, and spamming support skills make Foresight quite useless)

- What would I need ME for? Are there mobs that do ground spells? (Understood: Sorc is at MvP on full support and thus needs that)

- Isn't it usually in pvm party play that it's like TI rather than encountering a 1-3 mobs so that fiber lock would be viable? (Understood: that's for solo/mvp)

- According to the wiki, endows don't break weapons - why would I want to get more than 2 or 3 points in each of them? (Understood: For DD,EG,VS dmg)

 

Some other things I've encountered and that leave me wondering:

- Sometimes when I cast Whirlwind, the gem is consumed, but no ground effect visible.

- Whirlwind seems to be a floor effect, but I have the buff on me wherever I go for 5m. Does that apply on every character?(Understood: That's the recast buff in which time I can recast without using another gem. However, the buff/effect from WW etc. are only applied on floor tiles that have the effect)

- Dispell doesn't work on myself? Can't remove bleeding from myself.

 

I'm still a newbie ^^ My highest level character is a level 96 Champion, so I guess I haven't seen that much of the game yet. 

 

 

Edit: Found some answers due to talks with sorcs ingame and thought it would be nice to have them answered here as well.Maybe other ppl are struggling with these kind of things too :)

each level of endow adds more atk to your striking as well.
