Extra Life 2014! Play Games, Heal Kids. – Give and Get Rewarded! <-- big link for tl;dr'ers

 

Not sure if this has been posted in RO1CC (it's been posted on every other WP Game Forum one way or another), but WarpPortal is participating in the Extra Life 2014 charity set up to assist funding a Children's Hospital close to the participant's location, here being the Children's Hospital of Orange County.

 

By donating, you'd not only be performing an invaluable service to save lives and whatnot, you'll also be receiving small benefits as a result of your donation towards the WP game of your choice.

 

The donation incentives for RO1 are as follows:

 

Donation of $5~$49

15 Days of VIP(if possible)

x2 Battle Manual

x1 Token of Siegfried

 

Donation of $50+

30 Days of VIP

x3 of the Current Box

x2 Battle Manual

Please note that each WP Account may receive a maximum of 1 donation reward, so donating multiple times on the same account will not qualify the player for multiple incentive rewards, and only one game may be redeemed.

 

They'll be streaming the whole 24 hour event on their Twitch channel, which is currently set for October 25th, 2014 @ 8AM PDT (subject to change). Players that tune in may also be rewarded in a super special way (redeemable codes or even in-game items), and will be able to get themselves on the stream for all to see!

I'd also like to point out that, with regards to the lower donation bracket, VIP can actually be cheaper here than when purchased normally. This is a great incentive to direct your money to a worthy cause; I urge you to at least think about it! XD

Let's not forget that these rewards are digital and distributing them will likely be automated.

I was considering donating. I usually only donate to some place local that has a good track record or to a broader charity like Make a Wish.

After reading some of the reviews for this specific hospital, I can't bring myself to give to them.

I personally wouldn't judge something based on online reviews where people have the advantage of anonymity and detachment from repercussions, but each to their own.

 

Are they underfunded and unable to hire more immediately qualified or experienced staff or maintain their facilities as well as they'd like?

 

Are they overworked due to staffing issues or more personal things when the review was written and hence suffered lower QoS?

 

Was the writer biased somehow?

 

These are things you just can't account for when reading reviews, exactly the reason they serve as a poor indicator of quality and performance.

 

Should any negatives be true though, that's why a donation effort is the best thing to occur. More funding means a better hospital and more timely treatment.

 

But no, you should stay the course and refuse to donate based on a negative, SUBJECTIVE perception that isn't even your own. I'm sure that'll help everyone in the long run.

before i donate any $, I need to know how much $ is actually get to those kids...

i could be donating $100 and those kids will only get $20-$30 and the rest will get taken for servicing fee or ???? fee.

Just an fyi but the Community Manager responsible for hosting this event, ShazamO has unfortunately left WarpPortal as of today. Apparently Leonis has taken up the reigns of anything he was doing prior to his departure, so please direct all enquiries to him.

 

The WP Blog post has yet to be updated as of writing and still lists ShazamO as the event's primary contact, so please keep in mind that whatever you send him may not be read. Please go through Leonis instead.

Would I be OK to use the extra life forum banner to advertise on my streams to get some more (even a lil helps right?) Publicity for it? Or do you have any other precreated icons and such for use?

How can you tell if someone actually donated?

You have to donate through our link and "join our team" for us to be able to see that you donated.
