ironically this game will probably always have a future as long humans hang onto the past. We see the good nostalgic things, i still get the shivers whenever i hear the BGM "Through the tower", because thats what was playing in the commercials for RO 6-7 years ago in germany. Sometimes i lie down on my bed and think to myself:

"Why was i born? What is the meaning of all this? Why is my toe so small?". It does not matter if you have to pay the bills for the funeral of your father. Just remember to watch Pulp Fiction.

This game will only die once the generation that was young enough when RO started to experience a nostalgic effect when playing in their later years dies.

 

Yes, I see our generation's grandfather/grandmother versions playing RO. So Oda better not retire early.

To be fair, this game is already really outdated and messed up to a point where a competitive gaming can't be done without anyone complaining. I mean, who wants to play a 2D sprite-based clicking MMORPG in an era of 3D action interactive movie? And all the things about Renewal and kRO updates not coming is... well, we've been over this so many times. I honestly don't care much about competition in this game. I play RO mostly because of nostalgia and lore (The Dark Lord is such a fuukkkin badass~) but it seems like the majority of players here play to get good. Not that I blame them though.

 

Now, if you're a hot single who lives in my area and play Classic, call me.

I still love RO. I just have been very busy because of college... and Dark Souls... and Monster Hunter... and Barbie House Party... :v

 

Imma play tonight. I need some ori to upgrade that damn mace. It's infuriating that I have so many in Renewal but not even a rough one in Classic.

if they want this game to keep running they need to do a few things... Stop the cheaters and botters as fast as possible PERMANENTLY... CRUSH all private servers... stop selling OP items via the cash shop... private servers are our only real competition... the botters and cheaters come here cuz we dont enforce the rules like we should and the Pay to Win atmosphere turns off new players....
