Hello. I am trying to put together a strategy for getting my kvm katar to +10. What seems to be the most recommended way is to use a safe to 10 cert. However, these certs are extremely rare, and finding a selling take s luck and the right timing.

So, the goal is to get my KVM weapon from +9-+10 without using a safe to 10 cert. To my knowledge, the best way to do this is to use HD ore. If it fails, the weapon will go from +9-+8, in which case I'll need to use enriched ore to get back to +9 and try again.

Please correct me if these steps are wrong. I have never upgraded beyond +9 and want to make sure I'm not needlessly breaking gears with the simple click of a button.

Safe 10 certs aren't worth using unless you consider their price to be a nonissue. When Enriched is in you'll likely spend less zeny failing and refining back to +9 several times over than spending on even a single Safe 10.

 

Other than that, yes what you said is exactly how the process works. Enriched to +9, HD to +10, on failure enriched to +9, repeat until you swear maths is a lie.

 

Since you can't break gears with HD Ore or Enriched Ore that's not an issue either XD

 

You may break your screen/mouse/forehead though. I recommend wearing padded clothes and a helmet.

200 enriched and 15 HD's later, I got my +10! I think I need a break from generous hammer for awhile... Lol

wow, that was tense. the only gear i ever refined past 10 is only faceworm skin. i got it +10 and made it to +11, hahaha

Hello, sorry reopen such a old post, but i have the exactly same question, and although you guys have already answered, my questions are:

If i try to upgrade beyond +9, i will only need the HD Oridecon? Which npc i use, the mighty hammer? If happen to downgrade to +8 i just have to maintain the dialog open, and he will try to go back to +9? I know its about luck, but do u guys have any idea how many i will need?

i think you have to spent some zeny in order to refine with HD ore and the best is to refine with HD only when at +9 and then if it fails get back to enriched to +9 and then try again, the amount you'll spent with HD is way more than with enriched.

per the refinement article on the iro wiki, if you are attempting to +10 a +9 piece of equipment and it gets downgraded to +8, you should have at least 100 HD ores in inventory to try and bring it back to +9, else you risk dropping it below +7 and needing certs to bring it back up.  Like the above poster said, it's best to wait till enriched hammer is in unless you have a lot of money and use safe to +10 certs which do not result in downgrade on failure.

Thanks for all the answers, then, if i'm not mistaken the best thing to do is wait till the enriched hammer is back on, and if happen to drop to +8 i will use him to go back to +9 using the enriched hammer.

 

If so i will wait till the enriched hammer come back.

yes that is the case.  you will have your outliers and people who swear by mighty hammer.  there is a degree of luck involved.
