 I looked at the FAQ's nothign there. the ai works great but when i join a TI homu party mine will not attack unles im being hit or it hits me. i have tried alt+t

It will not attack monsters that are currently attacking or being attacked by other players, to prevent killstealing. The game provides no facility for the homun to automatically detect party members. 

 

Either friend the people in your party, or, under homun tactics, turn on the killsteal tactic for default monster (or specific monsters, if you've set up tactics for such) to have it killsteal everyone (on the logic that most of them will be party members). If you do that, be sure to turn it off if you use your homun elsewhere, otherwise people will get pissed at you.
