This is actually a guide for the Classic server, for the Renewal version, please refer to:

http://forums.warppo...uest-guide-wip/

Renewal players are advised to use caution if you intend to use this guide as many of its information do not apply to them, this includes the list of rewards and where the water ripples form.

I made a copy of this guide here because I've been seeing a lot of players from the Classic server walking to-and-fro on some of the quest maps searching for the correct fishing spots. So this is actually made for those who are unable to find where the Ripples in Water are on each map and this is by no means an attempt to take over from forum user andybrownma's thread in anyway.

If any of the community managers or forum moderators wish to merge this thread together with andybrownma's, please by all means, you have my expressed consent.

Fishing for Rewards Quest:

To begin the quest, travel to the port city of Alberta. Head over to the docks area and you'll see a man clad in strange robes together with his donkey fine steed, a horse.

Speak with the man, Westley and choose the first option from the list when you're prompted.

Westley will be glad to hear about your enthusiasm and will require you to bring him some materials so he can make a Fishing Rod for you.

TTG7g0.png

After bringing him the required materials, he will then ask if you would like him to craft you a regular Fishing Rod or a Small Fishing Rod, choosing either options will give you a pole for you to fish.

To actually start fishing:

You will then have to travel to different places around the world and visit spots named Ripple in Water in order to start fishing.

Note: Though the fishing rods are by themselves Accessories, you should not equip them, you must have them in your inventory for the options to appear when you choose to fish in the ripple spots.

When you are done selecting your fishing rods, another option will appear asking you what bait do you fancy in using to lure you potential catch.

A mini window with nice little cute paintings will appear after you choose your rods and baits.

A multiple choice menu will pop up, just choose whatever option you feel like it and hope to get lucky with your catch.

FIVE HUNDRED POINTS FOR THE HELM?

I don't have time to get 500 points when I'm lucky to get 5 points in one round of fishing at EVERY location. x_o

There's still nothing at the locations on these treasure maps either. :(

sometimes when I try to fish, it will start, and give me the options but as soon as I pick one, the dialog box will dissapear, but not the drawing of me fishing, and after that, the fishing spot will appear as used.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I bet that happens to just anyone, just consider that as the line has snapped or the catch got away.

what did you use to catch squid/jumbo shrimp?  I assume jumbo shrimp is in ayothaya and squid in byalan?

Also where did you catch the giant octopus?

Yup, you assumed right. The Jumbo Shrimp is the rare catch in Ayothaya and the Squid Byalan's.

Actually I tried not to make another appearance here on the forums as I'm one who like to keep my post count as low as possible.

Spoiler
However, since you asked, the baits for Squid and Jumbo Shrimp are one of the uncommon baits, that's probably why you never got them.

Anywho, you aren't really required to use the correct baits at all, you'll still get the chance to get the rare fish, it's just the chance is lower than if you were to use one. The reason I did not include the type of baits and type of rods in the guide is because I can't confirm that what I'm using are absolutely the correct ones for the correct catch. Furthermore, won't it be better if the players are given the chance to find these out for themselves? :P

The Giants are actually the Classic version of the Hooked Tentacle from the Renewal version, if you're still unaware of where to get those, please refer to andybrownma's guide, as I've siphoned enough thread views and user posts from his thread already, he deserves more credit as he was the first one who made the guide, I'm he that comes after him, so he naturally deserves better praise. :D

Anyhow, thank you Necrohealiac and everyone who has been using this guide, posting comments and giving me upvotes, I appreciate it. :)

the fact that i've managed to hook a giant squid before hooking a squid or jumbo shrimp really makes me think i'm doing something wrong.  since the bait is rare like you said, I'd rather get a nudge in the right direction even if you can't say for sure.

it doesn't look like anyone has really been updating the renewal guide in a few days either.

thanks for the guide anyway.

Very well then, but I seriously hope this is the last hint I will be giving here.

Well, I actually tried not to use the word "rare" here for the baits I was using for the rare fish, I chose to use the word "uncommon" because I was intending it to mean... well, just like how it should be - uncommon.

What I'm trying to say here was that the bait is not so commonly used by those who are trying to fish, not that the bait itself is rare or hard to obtain. From what I've heard or what I've been hearing, the more common baits people are using are those that can be purchased at a discount from various NPCs and the other items people used to farm for the Seal Quest (especially the Seal of Sleipnir), those are what I consider "common".

Try to disseminate what I'm trying to say and you might very well get your first Squid or Jumbo Shrimp. Anyway, I wish you all the best in your fishing adventures. :P

Well, there are supposedly spots you have to visit in your treasure maps, try visiting the place shown on the tattered maps and dig for your treasures. OP has a link to part of the quest.

I think the GMs have updated the patch files, try repatching if you haven't done so, those items are no longer appearing as Unknown items anymore. People are walking around wearing the fishing hat in town too.
