WTH is going on today? I've gotten at least a dozen spam pm's, on multiple characters, today. This is insane!

It only seems to happen to me in certain parts of prontera and eden group.

 

I hadn't gotten any spam for like three days and then I walked into eden group today and got three spam messages right away from three different bots.

on the bright side the nospam has hurt them to the point where you have to decode their PMs... not a very good way for them to market since nobody is gonna want to spend time ?f?i?g?u?u?r?i?n?g?O?u?t?W?h?a?t?T?h?e?y?A?r?e?S?a?y?i?n?g?.....

Yes I am mainly talking about Eden where I have chats, & vend, along with Prontera.

 

Edit: At least 7 of them in less than 2 hours & what's worse is if you warp all the blocks are deleted.

I've never had all the blocks delete when I warp zones....must be the way I block people though. Right click + Ignore

The only way I know of is by using /ex etc..

 

When you right click a pm you can only save chat or register friend. There is no ignore option.

 

I'm guessing you don't use pop-up chats & have them on the message bar.

 

 

P.S. The Eden Kitchen is safe at least...LOL

Right click the person and reject whispering, prevents both regular and PM chats to be blocked.

 

Never tried it with someone in same guild, or party. But I suspect the party one would be blocked.

Are your pm's set to show on the regular message bar?

 

Pop up pm windows don't have that option thow. Just the two I mentioned

I never have them show up in their own window...it clogs the screen when I get spammed.

You can't right click a spam bot if you don't know where they are. Specially in the cluster-_- that is eden group.

 

I just use /ex, which works until you log out. Once you log back in they are free to spam you again.

 

There is a way to make a permanent list afaik, but it's kind of a hassle and the bots are always being banned anyway so they will just pm you on a new char.

I'm sorry but the only true way to stop it is to disable all PMs...which is to basically take away a game feature...the best that can be done without affecting real PMs is to filter either based on common occurring text patterns, regular expressions, etc.  Making an ignore list isn't efficient either, eventually your client will load hundreds of names...thats a performance hit at some point.  Really the only way to stop it is to make it harder for remakes and also people stop buying from these idiots and getting their accounts hacked, if you don't know by now...nothing is going to save you.  Anyways we're working on a new nospam version that should be a bit harder but don't expect 100% cause you won't get it no matter how much we improve it.  I think tbh Ren and I have hit the limit on what can be done by us.

That's because they aren't actual bots like the ones that bot. The spams are just that. Spam pm's the same as emails you get.

Inu I know you have helped me with my nospam file but it still doesn't stop them.

 

The biggest issue is "Today". It hasn't been like this before. There have been over a dozen & 7 that I know of in under 2 hours.

They spam you because you walked near one of their info collecting bots at one point.  They keep a database of that similar to ROPD, and periodically spam the more active ones they see with their drones.

 

Razzez I'm sorry but...really your computer or OS is blocking or you're using something I'm not familiar with antivirus or security wise.  You're the only one I've encounter that has these many problems.

I'm not moving. I have an open chat in Eden. This happens both with vending, & using a chat room, in either Prontera, or Eden. Eden is the worse thow.

 

Before I was using XP, & a couple of months ago I formatted, & upgraded to Win7. It's not my OS. I use Norton IS, & I already added Gravity to the exception lists, like you suggested. Obviously I'm not the only one getting spam pms daily.

 

Just todays the worst it's been. Maybe something else is going on & they found a new way to bypass the current nospam filter.

Why anyone buys zeny I'll never understand. You can get about 800 kafra points for that same price, and use them to get something like tokens of siegfried (100kp each) and sell them very quickly for 12-15m each. So essentially you get about 100m z for that price completely legit.

 

And if you are the gambling type, you can buy groove boxes instead and potentially double or triple that amount.

Actually, is it possible for whispers to be integrated into the chat window? 

 

I find that the only annoying thing about whispers is not so much about the spam message, but rather the unexpected pop up of chat window which clogs your vision. It also interrupts whatever you're using from the hotkeys (since my 2nd bar hotkeys are 1-9, 3rd is q-p).
