Hi everyone,

Im currently building up scholar to became a sorcerer and I have the second set for my char (Skull cap + TSOD) once I reach level 70 with my char. but I was taking a look in Irowiki and they say that Kronos is the best staff for a sorcerer... So I would like to know your opinions.

Cheers

Irowiki says it's the most powerful two handed staff for a Sorcerer, which is still pretty much true. TSOD isn't a two handed staff so the statement is still correct in a way.

About irowiki (or wikis in general), new equipment come out all the time so the "best" may not be the "best" anymore after two years. I see that Kronos was put in in 2011 and hasn't been updated since. I'm not saying Kronos is bad though... see below response.

Anyway, the summarized "simple" answer is that TSoD + Skull Cap combo is overall better (especially with an unlimited budget).

Long answer is... long. And depends on a couple different factors.

One main headgear a lot of people will probably pair a Kronos with is a Crown of Deceit. One thing I generally tell people to look at is equipment sharing. Skull Cap is pretty much only used by Sorcerers and Warlocks. Crown of Deceit however is sometimes used by Geneticists and maybe a few other classes in some situations. Genetics are an extremely mainstream class and pretty much everyone has one (or should have one).

Now to get the most cast time reduction possible, you usually want a KK Card. Or a Dark Illusion Card if you don't mind the loss in HP / SP, or if you don't mind "ruining" your headgear. Now if you are sharing a CoD with a genetic, the expensive KK card may make more sense within a CoD. Of course if you are willing to spend billions on gear only a Sorcerer or Warlock could use, the TSoD beats the Kronos for sure with an unlimited budget.

Also, the TSoD needs to be +10 or higher to get that extra 10% cast reduction. +10 is just a huge pain in the ass and pretty expensive (there's also the mastersmith method from 9 to 10 though!)

You can get pretty decent cast time with a Kronos (double spell) + CoD combo, along with generic stuff like spell FAW, RWC pendants (or sprint rings).

But just looking at it generally, the TSoD is just a lot better overall because you can wear a shield with it. Note however in gramps TI situations this might not be that important.

There are more factors too, like how a Sorcerer's damage output is heavily reliant on INT and not so much on MATK (though MATK still matters). Also, there's the TSoD MDEF ignoring features, global cast delay reduction, and so on. Also, the TSoD is very dependant on the Skull Cap so there are also factors like if you ever swap away the Skull Cap. CoD also has some factors of its own regarding swapping since it's a Upper + Mid headgear. List goes on and on if you are interested...

thanks for the answer kasshin... I currently have a warlock with the combination +9COD of a caster (with KK card) and +7magician staff of destruction wich are working great for me... but I noticed that a lot of poeple with sorceres used the combo skull cap + TSOD... thats why I save a +9 TSOD with spell 2/2 and a +9 aria skull cap...(with isilla card)... KK card was too expensive... this is the reason why I was asking. So I guess I will just keep them and do not buy the Kronos.
