Why are you constantly pretending you'd do any better?
Where or when did I pretend that I can do this better? In fact, I neither own nor have I ever used a pro-version video editing tool.
All I did was to point out that I made a lot of mistakes and that I'd like to see them covered to help others to avoid them.
I am not that interested in WoE in general and when I first entered WoE, the siege weapons were underwhelming and uninteresting. The zeny cost also made me hesistant to use them. That's why it took quite a long time until I found out that buying a single "item" of a Catapult, etc. and using it isn't enough. Eventually, I found out that I had to select the given siege weapon and have to use supplies to finish them.
But that's wasn't the only pitfall. In the first few WoEs, I also thought that the siege weapons would fire automatically when an opponent gets nearby... that's why I kept my distance from them as well. On my first attempt to use a Catapult, I didn't figure out that the arrows were actually buttons to shift/turn it (I rarely use a mouse and the normal "shift left/right" keys weren't working) and didn't realize that you can hold the key down in order to "charge it up" to increase the range. And due to the long impact delay and the masses of X-marks on the ground. it wasn't easy to figure out where I had hit.
That's why I wrote that I would have preferred more a "click this to do that" kind of tutorial, but I never said that I could do it better.
B-but you aren't applying for VCR, and you aren't going to make any videos.
Yes, that's true.
I'm a programmer and interested in game mechanics in general. I'm a gamemaster of several different RPGs, created own sub-sets and produced few mods for games (f.e. Oblivion, Torchlight, NWN, etc.) and some of my card creations for Magic the Gathering eventually saw play.
(Gravity should check the latter out to see how well-defined elements could be)
But being interested in an overall balance rather turned out as a one-way ticket. Many replies, many haters.
I really thought that VCRs would be more like forum managers (what isn't something I would be good at) and that's why I haven't applied back then.
It turned out that the VCR system was - sorry for the harsh words - a complete waste of time. I can only play on weekends and aren't online 24/7 like SageLeaf. I am also neither a guild leader like pr3 or sarasah, nor a good tester. I doubt that the other VCRs would enjoy my company, but rather enjoy if 2/3 are from the same guild. And lately, I am even accused for using math to underline my statements and the slightest comment enrages this "friendly" community.
So no, I won't apply. I rather do the only logical step and leave.
