Having Costumes that give stats kind of defeats the purpose of having them as vanity gear and case in point almost every class that needs crit ends up wearing a tarnished lamp etc...
Maybe event/temporary bonuses are fine but having a permanent bonus from sprite viewable costume items is silly.
Take out effects of viewable costume items i.e: Headgear

Gravity says no.
And if you think what we currently have available is bad...

costume sprites are already removed in woe so players can see each others actual headgears at least; if you're not in a situation where you need to wear costumed gears with stats, what's stopping you from swapping out to the gear you do want to display?

That's exactly the point of costume gears though by your logic you may as well just use normal headgears and ignore the costume part all together. The whole point of costumes was so that people wouldn't be in ...back in the day... Apple of Archers or Poo hats all the time, especially PvM.

not everyone cares about looking pretty while killing things. you can look pretty in town any time.

Costumes in MMORPGs always have been meant to be vanity items and nothing more. RO and RO2 are the only MMOs I know of that treat costumes like another set of stat gears. Why Gravity continues to refer to them as costumes when they're clearly not is beyond anyone's understanding.
This is true and I'm not disagreeing with you, I just happened to think of another game that has costume gear with stats: Dungeon Fighter Online. It was a really neat MMORPG side scroller, kind of unique like RO.
Edit: Looked it up and apparently that game went under since the last time I looked.

I haven't played many mmorpgs but most of the ones i played have done it at some point, i really hoped RO wouldn't get to it but well...

Then there was the tarnished lamp and the dragon helm. Now I'm back to wearing two ugly headgears for stats and wishing my pretty ribbons had good stats so I could wear them instead.
Can we get a 3rd heagear slot for a REAL costume system?

Why not just call the 2nd tab hidden gear and make a 3rd tab for actual costumes like Jaye said?

gold dragon is slotted for troll purpose.I celebrated the costume system because I could wear an ugly headgear for its stats and then hide it with the angel wings or ribbons or whathaveyou I wished I could wear instead.

i do care, i love looking badass when i slay things. that's why i let my tarnished lamp rot in my storage and using valk helm costume and assassin mask costume instead. also costume works as an identity for me.not everyone cares about looking pretty while killing things. you can look pretty in town any time.

It would only be a matter of time before you'd be wearing three ugly headgears. Can we get a 3rd heagear slot for a REAL costume system?

I wear whatever costume I want. The effects of the current headgear costumes is to miniscule to even force me to wear them.

That would be the malangdo enchanter, which allows you to buy new costume headgears with a new kp item (which replaces silvervine fruit). You get a random headgear. You can then scrap ones you don't want and it spits out a random voucher for stat enchantment. Those vouchers work on any of those new costumes. Kro then expanded the npc to take on tons of existing items, converting them to costumes and being enchantable. The best enchant is aspd+1. I don't think anyone will complain about tarnished lamp when any costume can give aspd+1...

However, we already know kros solution to costumes becoming obsolete with new ones having effects. They implemented their answer to this like march/april of this year.

Yeah i thought this could be a potential solution. At the end of the day sure the stat thing is kind of ridiculous but at least you can give ANY costume any stats so you're not forced to wear any specific item.
