I was wondering if anyone else experienced this. I've been seeing this for ages and ages and ages, but never really thought to post about it till now since it's been happening more frequently in the last few months.

When using bingbing and bangbang to direct my slides, especially when I sharply change direction by using it more than once, my facing on the server becomes anachronistic to what I see on the client, and I often slide in a completely different direction than what I would expect.

Blue is facing. Red is backslide direction. On the left you would assume I'd slide opposite to the direction I'm facing, being southeast -> northwest, but on the right you can see that I moved north instead of what my facing would imply.

I assume it's just my awful connection and routing dropping a packet.

Does anyone else experience this? Tell me your horror stories! XD

It's a client issue. It keeps track of the direction your sprite is facing (what is displayed) and the direction your character is facing (what is sent to the server) separately, and adjusts both of them when you /bingbing or /bangbang. So if they're out of sync (e.g. after walking diagonally so that you traverse n cells horizontally and n±1 cells vertically), those commands cannot be used to put them back in sync.

indeed. often happened when i was pulling at TI, i backslided to lure mobs toward my party. what happened was the opposite, i got slided farther away from my party and went deeper to a pile of mobs. then i died.

backslide should direct users to the direction their back face. it often moved left, right, even often forward. this is related with position bug which showing false standing position. the direction showed at screen doesnt mean the real direction the char faces. depressing.

Same here. So nowadays, I rely on several shift-clicks to ensure I'm facing the right direction before backsliding. Or let my char take a step forward before backslide.

I hate this so much... especially when I'm trying to backslide around castles in WoE.
