So, I just made an Assassin yesterday (took the entire day to do it), because it's the only class I do not have a character of.
Whoops, did not (WOOT, ONE OF EVERY CLASS!)

I have little to ZERO knowledge of assassins or how to play them. I'm looking for some help on leveling and end game goals.
My main concern is finding a build that is good for leveling, but makes a good transition over into PvP. If it's possible, I'd prefer a GX outcome that can be useful in both PvM and PvP environments.

 

I prefer highly aggressive/disruptive classes and skills, if that helps.

 

Also: Not much zeny to throw around.

I have done so since posting this, because I was impatient for an answer. The problem with reading guides not tailored to one person is that sometimes such guides will confuse readers like me, so I was hoping for some input...

But anyway. Due to advice from guildees, and a few very generous patrons, I got my hands on this gear because I heard it was good for leveling:

+4 Vanargand (Still upgrading)

+5 HBP (Orc Baby Card, Still upgrading)

+9 Quadruple Malicious Jur

Variants (Can't equip just yet)

CD in Mouth

Robo Eye

I plan on getting Rogue's Treasures and elemental katars

 

For PvP in the late game I have:

Cat Ear Beret (Still upgrading)

WoE Set (Unfrozen suit, no cards elsewhere)

I plan on getting a KvM Katar, because apparently it's the best

Planning to build around HBP and Rogue's Treasures/ Leveling build and hopefully good enough for PvP/WOE
90 STR

90 DEX

90 AGI

95 VIT (For PvP/WoE)

90 LUK 

 

Going for CRS and Venom Impress (The Day I get to Magic Mushroom people is the day my life is fulfilled)

 

Again, I'm trying to build so that I can do anything with the right gears (MvP, PvP, etc.) In case I want to change what I'm doing with the GX in the future, I want the transition to NOT require reset stones, hue.


My biggest questions start with "Why?"

 

Why do I want HBP?
Why do I absolutely need crit?
Why a +9 QM Jur for leveling? o.0
Basically, "Why does this class need these things?" That way in the future, I can design my own builds for the class and can still be viable.

FAW is better than HBP offensively.
Crit so you don't miss MVPs with agi up. Also crit damage stacking works wonders.
People use malicious jurs to aoe while remaining at high hp.

Orc Baby Card is pretty horrible in general but if you carded it already then... oh well. You can't get 90+ on five stats right now so you should probably sacrifice some DEX or LUK. HBP is pretty good on a GX, or more like it's ONLY good on a GX (and maybe RG) these days compared to a FAW. Go with a FAW if you will be sharing gears with other characters. CRIT is only needed for MVPs that AGI-up, and is more of a gearing thing than a build related thing, unless you are creating a very specific build (not recommended off the bat). And for all MVPs you gear almost completely differently for each MVP, if you're smart. For leveling you will be using AOE with rolling cutter, unless you go with the less mainstream counterslash.

Middle head gear: Blinker or Dark Blinder and then when you can afford it slotted mid gear (any will do) with a Marduk Card. This is completely optional if you already have a Marduk Card in your upper head gear don't bother getting it for your mid, instead just use Robo Eye.

 

Lower head gear: Umbala Spirit

 

Armor: Orleans Gown, Sky Deleter Card

 

Garment: Nidhoggur's Shadow Garb, Raydric card

 

Shoes: Variants and then (optional) Enhanced Variants +9, Matyr Card

 

Accessories:  Clip x 3, Hell Poodle Card x 2, Creamy Card

 

PVP/WOE:

 

Weapon: Guillotine Katar +9, Glorious Jamadhar +9 (back up weapon just in case your weapon breaks from Full Chemical Protection Wearing off)

Where are the goddamn reducs.

You don't throw reductions on a sneaky assassin who is designed to be a glass cannon, your main defenses are high flee, perfect dodge, and evasive skills such as hallucination walk, hiding, cloaking exceed, back slide, weapon blocking.... And even with full reductions you'll still get decimated by someone who has a fully optimized build, and in order to gain those reductions you need to sacrifice power.
