Hi everyone !

 

I'm a french player from the french server of DragonSaga who closed on April. I could understand the game quite well, but it could be easier if the game was in french. 

I viewed somewhere in the DragonSaga's forum (I forgot where) that we can "translate" a lot of the content of the game in other languages. Is it true ? How can we do it ?

I'm an EU player myself, or better was. I found my way here from the German Dragonica server though.

 

Do you still have the old french EU Dragonica folder somehwere on your computer?

 

If so getting parts of the game back into french language isn't that hard. If you don't have it anymore, I'm not able to help you, sorry.

 

 

So in the case you got the old French Dragonica folder left:

In your DragonSaga folder you find a file called xml.dat. Please make a safety copy from that one, just put it in a different folder to store it save. In the case something goes wrong you can simply put this one back in and all is fine again.

After that open up your old french Dragonica folder. In it you will find another xml.dat file. Now you just have to copy this one and paste it over the DragonSaga xml.dat. Copy, paste, override - yes.

When you  now start the game and all went well, you should see all quest texts and items and NPC names/messages turning back to french language. 

 

Note:

 

This only works until Gravity on here does make a new xml.dat file (for example new content and so on). At time being it works I think, but I can't tell you how long. It could be the Halloween patch we recently got made it stop working, cause I know they patched something on the xml.dat. But I'm not completely sure on this, maybe give it a try and see for yourself.

And don't forget all around the in game market stays English, so does all inside the Item Mall. In other words you have to use the English terms when you are looking for an item in there, for example souls always stay souls. These parts of the game do not work with the French language.

Oh, it's really easy, I already did it in another game

I think that I have an older Dragonica (last update in 2012-2013), could it work ?

Yes this could possibly work. I think it is worth a try. 

 

But don't forget to make a safety copy of the original DragonSaga xml.dat. Just in case, so that you can put this back in if your old one doesn't work properly.
