Argh! I did the first part with the Dokebis and then followed the directions at irowiki: "Afterwards, if you choose the "It was boring." option, another battle will begin, this time with Am Muts." but there was one more question which, to me, looked like they both let to the Am Muts battle but "Nah, I'm good" (which I thought was just bragging) exited the challenge! Is there any way to reset so I can finish the fight?

no. make new char then do the quest again.
I already knew that was gonna be the answer and I was being rhetorical in the OP. Just drives me nuts how some (many (most?)) of the menu choices in RO are completely misleading to a native English speaker.

irowiki states that if you choose "It was boring" then another fight would begin. That should tell you (Poor Engrish or not) that the other option would end the quest.
BTW, "Nah, I'm good" is not poor translation. It's used quite a bit.

I did indeed choose "It was boring" but it was the question after that that caught me. I just didn't read it closely enough.

Ah. It's been a while since I've done that quest, and the questions aren't on irowiki, so I can't remember what the options are. I might have to go through it again to see...

Next time I do the quest I'll take notes and update the wiki if no one else has gotten to it.
EDIT: Done.

"Nah, I'm good" means "no thanks."
It doesn't mean "no, it won't be hard because I'm good."

This is exactly the mistake I made last night and, again, simply because I didn't read close enough. I added the second response to the wiki (but on the second character run through I still didn't get the No Recipient I was hoping for, just another Armlet of Obedience).

If it's the Munak pet you want, why not just buy one? It'd take a lot of luck to get a No Recipient, even if you did the quest on a lot of characters. And even if you got one, the chances aren't all that great that you'd be able to catch one.

Where's the challenge in that? Seriously though, that's what I'll do; i'm just having fun.

lol You could do the quest on a bunch of characters. I once got a red candle and another tame that was worth one mil. You might be able to make the money to buy the munak.
