The Rudolf's on Santa's Planetoid will stop while you're hitting them. When they do, all of a sudden you constantly miss. Sometimes if you click away, then click back on them, you will start hitting them again. Also, if you click on one that was damaged, anything that drops will not be yours, even if you are the only one hitting them. They also tend to hide in the terrain and the trees.

Thanks for the report, the issue of attacks missing actually affects any kind of monster that you are already standing next to and try to attack. A fix for this issue has been created, but the fix will not be applied until a later date (closer to the release of the new dungeon most likely), as it is heavily intertwined with some other movement mechanic changes that are currently being worked on.
Also, if you click on one that was damaged, anything that drops will not be yours, even if you are the only one hitting them.
Sounds like pretty standard behavior. Monsters that have recently been damaged by someone else will claim the first hit status when the monster is killed, giving them rights to any items that drop.
They also tend to hide in the terrain and the trees.
Will have to look into updating their tether to keep them away from heavily obstructed terrain.

When they stop moving and you constantly miss, I pick up the drops that are scattered around and then when I go back to attack the mob, it starts the walking pattern again. Of course, it can be confusing if other people are in the area also killing them but for the most part giving them that little "break" seems to get them going again.
The hiding in trees etc is more of an annoyance to me but with those, when they walk away I stop hitting them and sometimes they come back out after awhile.

I noticed that this bug appears more often when you are hitting unarmed. Also, if you stop hitting them, and come at them from a different direction, they are more than likely to start running again. The tree hiders aren't too bad, but there are some that actually hide in the mountains, and they won't come out.

Oh I c. Well what is happening is someone comes and aoes all the reindeer, then they can kill them at their leisure since all the drops will belong to them. I found this quite frustrating as I couldn't find any that hadn't been hit.

I've run into that too. Sometimes they are standing in the area just waiting for the other guy to do the work for them. Now I try to avoid any that have already taken damage and if I do start attacking one, I stop and try to pick up the first crystal it drops. If I can't pick it up, I move onto another reindeer.

Same here, but sometimes it seems as if all the reindeer have been hit. Fortunately, there are not as many people doing it now, so it is not quite the problem it was at the beginning of the event.
