I don't know if this is the right area, but I was wondering if there were any ways to get only job experience.  I am trying to keep a character at a certain level before I change jobs.

if you're talking about turn ins, you would need to be VIP. if you're talking about hunting in the normal world your best bet would to be taxed and kill yourself every time you level job.

either trade in blank cards for em or test your luck in the hugel mini games

trying to get prize medals in the hugel mini games is the perfect way to get exactly 0 base AND 0 job exp

Is the character you're talking about a 99 Kagerou/Oboro?

No a level 1 novice.

^then the only feasible way is prize medals
1. Obtained through hugel mini games
2. Obtained by trading in blank cards
3. Buying kafra boxes/packs that have them as a random reward

i cant think of any other way, since novices cant lose base exp.

That sucks because they used to be able to.

Maxing your guild tax (50%) will reduce the amount of base exp you receive but won't affect your job experience.

 

That's another way you could use to slow the level progression.

No it wasn't.  I was at 50% tax and still managed to get 97% experience.  On a side note, does anyone have a spare card for sale or trade?

what's the point in keeping the base level of a novice down? i can understand if you're juggling TI ranges or something so you can keep pumping job, but the last thing i'd do for a novice is keep its base level down. am i missing something here?

Because I feel like it.  And gravity used to have it set up so that a novices suffered an experience penalty like everyone else.

I've never seen a novice lose EXP when it died. And that's going back to almost the beginning.

When I started back on the original Loki server, novices didn't lose exp when they died. This was back in 2005.

AFAIK, novice has never lost exp on death.
