Merchant class has poor flee.
Some pullers invest a lot of zeny for perfect dodge equips so even if they have a couple of dozen mobs they dont get hit.
Some classes has skills perfect for pulling. (backslide, parry, guard, endure)
Also some classes are made to take a beating.
There are also equips that boost healing effectiveness of some items, definitely worth having at least anyone of them. http://irowiki.org/w...ealing_Boosters

Use Rudolf Hairband or WPH. You can also create two more accounts (Soul Linkers) that can Kaahi you (they have to link each other) and you'll never have to spend on healing items ever (you just need a safe place to position your linkers).

This.
It will save you a lot of zeny if you have any of these.
15z carrot will heal you as much as a white pot. And you can carry a lot more.

eggs are expensive/harder to come by since theyre only monster drop.
carrots/pumpkin can be bought from npc.
just save up for rudolf, it would be one of the best investments you will make.

With the Jump Event on-going, I'd say creating those Soul Linkers is the cheapest way to go (just a bit time-consuming).

Fresh fish from Chef assistant in alberta and comodo not as much as white pot, but a lot less heavy. Also Aloes. You can farm them in Groves and Kaphas.

Use Hammerfall or if grinding/mobbing probably should use darkframe/sasquatch on armor...less hassle

Think of the potions as, investing zeny into your character. The higher level you get, the easier it will be, and less potions will be used. In the beginning it can seem like a lot, but it's really not that much unless you're spamming ranked slims.

I guess since everyone talked about their own potting method, I can write for the alternatives that were TOTAL WASTE of time.
Umbala spirit-it's really expensive. So much to the point that it's better to just pot with whites.
Lunakaligo-used by pretty much battle priests only, and they usually can't carry that much weight around to begin with
shinobi and blazzer card-mainly just produces apples and potatoes, the good stuff don't drop often enough.
Any accessories card that produces lvl3 food; horrible production rate
Pizza Pie of Plenty-1% production rate and heals as much as a red pot. Total joke.

Merchant class is also a Zeny generator. My first account is blacksmith. My first big Zeny was OCA, from joker.

the cheapest alternative is to spend some time farming aloes and then go leveling
