Besides MVP'ing, I want to level my gene in a more traditional way. I assume CC is the way to go. So, I have a couple of questions:

 

- Should I try to achieve insta-cast? If so, what are the best gears to do so? Currently I have 2x RWC Pendants Spell3/3, +9 FAW Spell17 and +9 Crown of Deceit [Clean]. What weapon should I get for that? Mjolnir is not an option.  

     -On a related note, what cards should I put in those pendants? D: It's been a hard question for me.

 

-What should my stats look like? I'm aiming at ~70 STR, ~70 INT, ~70 DEX, ~50 VIT right now.

 

-I have a pair of Temp DEX Boots EA4/RM. Should I be using them to level?

 

-Is my +9 Erde EA9 [2x AS] a good weapon for leveling or should I change it?

 

-Good places to level? I'm a recenlty made Gene, so be gentle.

 

Any advice is appreciated.

Wow, first let me say you have some great stuff for cast time. Achieving instant cast is ideal because then you no longer have to wear the flimsy-as-paper orleans gown to prevent being interrupted, and can then substitute for a better armor with more def, I like valky armor but I'm sure there are more efficient pieces out there.

 

You might as well try to get to instant cast, and you're already almost there; -32% from rwcs, -30 from faw and another 20 from CoD puts you at -80%, a katherine keyron card in your Cod would get you to 89%, if you were lucky enough to +10 your CoD, that means 90% total with the kk card. For the remaining 10%, you could use temporal boots with spell 5 enchant, but this is costly and/or time consuming, so it's up to you.

 

For temporal boots, I use +6 temporal STR boots with spell 4, since I havent got enough coag spells to up it to spell 5. The reason i use STR boots is the small atk boost can make the difference between 3 shotting and 4 shotting a mob. However since your cast time is already fast enough, i think sticking with your dex Ea 4 boots is fine for you. I dont have FAW so I need all the extra cast time i can get

 

About the stats, it seems fine to me what you have in mind, but my gene is built around +9 hbp bonuses to increase CC and AB dmg, but what you have here is better, i think, considering the faw. However i would maybe go for a bit more vit, my gene right now has around 70 vit and feels a little too squishy.

 

For the weapon, the weapon I've found that does the most all around damage for me is +9 red twin edge with 3x archer skel, no other weapon I tried worked as well for me, and while the fire element seems like it would be a problem, enemies that are resistant to fire can be bypassed using elemental converters or sorcerer endows, so keep that in mind.

 

About leveling, if you dont want to do TI and watch rangers have all the fun, i hung out in nogg road from 100~110, then moved to naga/cornus/dark pinguicula in new world from 110~125 and have been in scaraba dungeon 1 until I felt confident enough to move to scaraba dungeon 2.

 

Mainly you are doing fine for leveling, you have some top-tier cast reduction gear and the only thing I would really change is the erde to a RTE. Good luck!

I would suggest a double spell erde for leveling, as it will make reaching insta cast much easier and has decent damage too.

    - +5 Diabolus Armor [Porcellio] (When dealing damage)

- +9 FAW Spell18 [Raydric]

- +7 Temp DEX Boots EA4/RM 

- 2x RWC Pendants Spell3/3

- Orc Warrior Pet named Charles :3

 

And while MVP'ing I use:

 

- +9 EMH (I need Dark Ping card)

- Robo Eye

- Gangster Scarf

- Valk Armor [Peco Peco] (or Diabolus when not tanking)

- +9 Erde EA4/5 [2x AS] (Enchanted this one myself too :3)

- +9 Valk Shield [Clean]

- Variants

- Expert Ring [Phen]

- Medal of Honor/RWC Ring FS3/ATK+2%

- Orc Warrior pet named Charles.

I feel that I need an Immune Shield sometimes when mobs don't use elemental attacks. Should I try to card my valk shield with Alice and get an Immune Shield for general PvM?

For MVP, you totally need an Alice Valk, ya.

Peco peco? Where are you elemental armors? Most MVPs, you don't have the luxury of wearing anything other than an appropriate elemental armor (we often use orleans gowns, so you don't need a phen - but ofc then they're less suitable for CC leveling, since you'd have insta otherwise)

I do have elemental armors for certain MVP's (Fire Armor [Porcellio], Water Armor [Marc], Wind Armor [Steel ChonChon]), though right now, I'm tanking mostly MVP's without any strong element or no element at all. I also have a +7 Abysmal Knight Helm to tank a bit more. The Valk Armos with Peco is to be less squishy and the Stun resist.

 

I switch gears whenever I'm leveling or Bombing. I do like the much less severe penalty of the Orlean's Gown, but I like having flexible armors when bombing. Planning on getting a The Sign for a Phen.

You made wind armor of heman? That... that was a poor call. You want marc card in it. Almost everything that has a scary wind attack also has a way to freeze you - which makes you water, so the next wind hit rocks you - and that is often a damaging water skill, and wind gives you some reduction vs that too. The skills are usually lined up in the AI so that they often combo it. And the 10% wind resist is small, and probably not necessary after the armor reduction (note that it stacks multiplicatively with the armor reduction, not additively).

Re: valk armor for stun, you're eventually getting 100 vit, so you won't need stun resist.

Re: stats, int and str, get them close to their final values, then 100 total vit with job bonus but no gear, then finish out other stats. That's what I'd do, at least.

Agreed with DrAzzy,

 

For leveling I use a +12 RTE with Hodremlin Valk Shield. I don't really know how i feel about erde's for leveling though. I've never tried it.

 

And as for the elemental armors, I have Fire/Wind and Water with all Marc Cards on them.

what do you guys think about slotting for 2x RWC pendants?

It depends on you, either way works, but most geneticists i've seen have their RWC Pendants slotted. I have both of mine slotted, been thinking about slotting them with KBC or Gold Scaraba cards, but that's out of my budget for now.

Is it dumb to put a phen card in one of the pendants for when i switch out the orleans robe for resist pieces?

also, dont put a phen in there, the point of a RWC is to reduce, not to mitigate a phen. if you switch out orlean's for resist, im guessing you are mvping? if so, then just wear a phen clip becuse acid bomb is fully fixed cast, making RWC not have any effect on it

I am only 104/19 at the moment and just leveling. I wanted to use resist armor for Nogg since the fire burst has a tendency to kill me. What do you recommend I slot my RWC with?

Nah, i would never put phen on my rwc pendants in a million years. I have a phen carded waterbrooch that I carry with me just incase.

 

I use orleans most of the time, but it depends on the situation.

-Higher Int = Higher CC dmg / Higher Str = Higher Acid bomb dmg

 

-You should not use Runaway Magic to lvling. CC / AB doesnt deal magic dmg.

I know it is a bad choice of a card, but I didn't card it myself. It was bought from a vendor because I needed a wind armor for Mistress and it was selling really cheap. XD

I average 18k per shot to the Scarabas, so about 4 shots to kill with this setup. The cast time is almost instant. I have another set-up for more damage, but lower cast time.

Is that damage decent?  

 

Supply-wise, I use Aloes and Straws. I use about 500 aloes and 250 Straws per bounty run of Scarabas. I carry some YggSeeds for when the situation turns dire. XD

 

Stun has not been a big of an issue while hunting. It rarely activates and when it does, it doesn't last enough to get me killed. What gets me killed are 2 factors: I run out of aloes or I run out of cannon balls. I've never died from stun. Still, when MVP'ing, it's been troublesome at times.

-Erde is nice since it is unbreakable and that 10% cast reduc gives me the insta-cast. :3

 

-I haven't tried high TI with my gene I don't like it, but I may give it a shot once in a while. MVP'ing and ET I've been doing as much as I can.
