It's come to our attention that there's been some nasty rumors, questions and worrying minds of late in regards to development, ROSE and the future plans.

So I will start with a few questions that have been going about, to help put some things in order.

Important: How this thread will work.

Feel free to post your questions you would like to have answers to. I will do my best to go through and answer questions where possible.

  1. Questions will be added to the list below with an answer. Once answered, your original question/post will be removed for considerations of anonymity for anyone returning to the thread, questions will be for the community.
  2. If you post a question that's already been asked, or is covered within an answer, your post will be removed. Please read through the questions.
  3. Questions unrelated to development will not be answered, and will be removed as well.
    • We define "development" as things that involve game play, mechanics, content and events.
    • Questions about production, marketing, operations, and company policies are not development questions.
  4. If a Q&A is updated, we will indicate the date when the answer was updated.

It's my goal to keep the thread to basically look like a single post, so it is more a read through, than a discussion thread.

Added note: I understand the way some questions can be worded can be made to seem related to your question but I had to define what is willing to be covered when it comes to development. There is a large misunderstanding behind what the development team does, just like there is usually a confusion to the term "GM" being someone who has the ability to make changes to the game, like bug fixes or change how the game even works.

The development team only handles mechanics, game features, things you interact with, game play, that sort of thing. Questioning us (the development team) about how we're going to do something to market ROSE Online, run promotions or change how tickets are responded to, is not something within the development's ability to control.

If you wish to report something or have questions about support, speak to Warnhal or submit a ticket please.

Thank you. :)

The Q&As

Q: When will the server merge happen?

A: We do not have a scheduled date or estimate we can provide. The reason for this is because we are still working out the logistics ourselves. When we are able to know, in full, how the process of the server merge is going to involve, we will make an announce to the community the timeline of the server merge.

Facts about the server merge.

  • There is no date scheduled, yet.
  • We will announce to the community in advance, when it is planned to happen.
  • I personally want to give at minimum 30 days (1 month) notice to the community to be ready for it.
  • No server name has been chosen for the new server.
  • Neither Leonis or Draconis will be used as the new server name.

Q: Will there be any zulie cap or anything done to items or zulie amounts from the server merge?
A: Since we're still working on the logistics of the server merge, I can't answer this with complete accuracy. While we understand the concern of the two economies coming together, we're not currently looking at limiting any items or zulie.

Spoiler

Q: Now that the new dungeons is out, what is the next big plan?
A: We plan to continue adding to the dungeon over time. Future projects will be announced when they are ready to be.

Q: Why can't you do smaller updates with each individual part?

Q: Why are you waiting to do it all at once?

A: Because some aspects of the update rely on one another, and although the gradual changes may feel like they go over smoothly, it will be a series of constant changes to do them part by part. Not only that, but we also see the more time we take on it, the better it can become during our testing and feedback phases on Pegasus. So it also doubles as additional time to make a higher quality update.

Q: Will there be new back items?
A: I'm sure eventually we'll come up with some additional back items to compliment and also to be unique types to find, make or earn.

Q: Are you only updating armors, not weapons?
A: Weapons are of course part of the tiering, but armors take more effort to create, so they get the first focus.

Q: I've heard rumor that there are plans for the Artisans in the future, is there?
A: Yes, we do have plans for the Dealer's Crafting skill tree, and Artisans. While we're not sure on the timeline to when it will happen, there are some requirements for us to work out first.
While we understand crafting is a unique aspect of game play, it is currently restricted to one class tree or build. Additionally, the same class tree and build, is not highly regarded for being able to participate in party play. Our goal is to change that around by hold on to the essence of what the Crafters and Artisans are, by being builders, engineers, and creators. The concept is to provide them with a "summon" type of skill where they will build various gadgets that they would use for combat. These gadgets would more or less be stationary, and provide combat support through direct damage or buff style effects.
The crafting talents would essentially be made general skills for anyone to pick up and use within certain limitations. This would be one of the details that is not finished enough to detail out more quite yet, but the goal is to create an additional support designed class that could be valuable in any party, with or without a Cleric.

Q: So what are these "high priority issues?"

A: Partially, they are start of the year tasks that are required to be performed by our company for each of our games. But that's boring and no one cares about that. There is, however, something that doe affect the community, which are exploits. There have been several exploits and bugs that we've had brought to our attention and are felt strongly by the community to be important to address. So as some of you may have noticed by now, the party experience bug has been addressed. There were some other highly exploitative bugs that were also addressed in the midst of our bug hunt, that we would prefer not to expose, but some of you may have noticed some recent strange activity in the market economy. While we are confident we've addressed them, we wish to continue monitoring for further activity to ensure it no longer is a concern.

Q: Are there plans to prevent, stop or combat botting?
A: Botting is a plague in any game that's fun or popular. Unfortunately, it is also not something we can stop easily and though we will continue our efforts, we continue to review other aspects that would make it less appealing or possible, but we don't want to prevent players from being able to play either. Automatic recognition of behavior can be mistaken, and we do not have the manpower to individually hunt down botters to make an effect that is perceived by the community. Because so much effort has to be put in to handling them on a hunting level, and so little effort is put in to setting up a new bot, the cost to benefit is too great to keep doing it on a consistent basis. We will continue to work on methods that make it difficult and discourage it's use, but it also will take time to implement.

Q: Do you have plans on removing the ability to have multi-clienting?
A: Currently, no. It can become a consideration in the future in the situation where it becomes an issue of exploitation. The well being of our community is always a consideration.

Q: Do you feel ROSE is going in the right direction?
A: Yes, of course, or we wouldn't be going through the efforts we have been taking.

Q: Are there things in the past you wish you did differently?
A: The thing about looking in the past, is that the past is not today. And because of that, the situation is naturally different. The circumstances for a decision years ago, are different than being faced with the need to make a decision now, because everything has changed, evolved, so much since that day. Putting a comparison to periods of development or updates doesn't change the fact that we're here now and working towards the same goals we had before, which is to make ROSE fun.

Q: Why was the Union Wars removed?
A: There were several reasons, one being it had major flaws that were causing game instabilities. Upon discovering this, those in charge at the time made the decision to remove it, and replace it.

Q: Are there plans for any Clan VS Clan content?
A: Yes. While I can't quite go in to it in detail, there have been several ideas and core goals that we have involving the clan system and its feature to game play we will be working towards, in 2015.

Q: Does ROSE still stand for Rush on Seven Episodes?
A: In a way, yes, we've never really left the name's original purpose but we have stepped away from it being an acronym. We do refer to it as ROSE Online, as it is easier to understand that than explaining its acronym origin. :)

Q: Are there plans for 3rd Classes?
A: We've talked about it and even gone as far as giving some concept names for the 3rd classes, but nothing solid enough for me to go in to any more details on, other than we definitely want to.

Q: What plans do you have regarding the economy of ROSE?
A: First part of helping the economy is to correct some of the issues that are hurting it. Aside from that, we've done much to help the economy, with the challenge and difficulties of farming for items and continue item development in the future. There are plans to help widen the supply vs demand.

Q: Can you give any more details about the Clan Vs Clan plans you mentioned?
A: Unfortunately there are no further details that can be provided at this time, but we will be giving more as we reach more a completion of the feature update.

Q: Are you going to be adding more armors for other tiers as well?
A: It's a desire to add more content not just for end game, but for starting and mid gaming experiences to keep it interesting for new and old players as more content and features are implemented.

Q: Tell me more about development plans, about everything, dates, details, tell me tellmeTELLME! :D

Q: When do you plan on releasing [content]?
A: While we know you are enthusiastic to hear about everything we want to do, you will have to wait and we will give information as updates and features come in to light. Until then, there's no way to go in to detail over all the goals we have and will work towards. You will need to be a little patient, and keep an eye out for Pegasus test periods and updates!

Q: Will you consider implementing [new feature/quest/content idea]?
A: We always consider features the community suggest or show desire to have. But keep in mind some features are more complicated than others, sometimes just because the foundation was not created with it in mind, meaning we would have to create that foundation to support it. But we do our best to and have have many wide range of feature foundations in mind for the past couple years of development which have helped us expand on many feature systems in-game. Please keep giving us your feedback, as we always wish to know what we can do for our community to keep ROSE fun and exciting for all.

Q: Will you expand the party system? (more party members)
A: It's not impossible, but for right now, we do not have any pressing plans to make alterations to it.

Q: What about [bug], when are you going to fix that?
A: Not all bugs are easy to reproduce or identify. While we do try to address every and any bug we become aware of, sometimes they just simply escape our ability to correct in a quick manner of time. But we never give up and always look for more information regarding that may help us find the key element to reproducing it, or that may cause it. What helps us is reporting the issue every time it happens, and to try and keep in mind everything done prior to it happening. The more details the better, the smallest detail can be crucial to figuring it out.

Q: Rumor has it, with the next big update, locked gear will be unlocked, is this true?

A: No.

Sorry everyone, I'm going to leave the thread readable, but locking it for now because this was intended to be for January mostly. We will start a new thread soon so you can ask more recent questions and the Q&A can be updated with more recent information.
