Hello thanks for taking the time to look at my post!

Me and a friend are COMPLETELY new to the game, and we just made our novices. I think we're in Payon City, theres a bunch of people in the middle, a few shops, some people asking for buffs, and a teleport NPC etc. We tried asking people in the middle for help but no one seemed to care to respond so here we are!

We really dont know what to do or where to go, the quests we got are rather confusing, so we looked up a leveling guide and various ones say just to kill things, which we don't mind! Thing is, we went out and are killing porings and what not, but we have no idea where to go afterwards or how to job change (if we can yet at job level 7?)

Also we both put max stats into strength, we're hitting much harder but we're worried that there isn't a stat reset, is there one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but for now we don't want to mess up our characters until we have a decent idea of the direction we want to go and how to get there, so we're going to be playing something else to we figure it out!

P.S We love you long time if you could give us a general layout or suggestions on how we should spend our time leveling/gearing/making zeny as we have prospects to duo Full Support Archbishop (me :D) and Royal Guard/Rune Knight (him)

P.P.S Hes open to suggestions for what he should be that would be best as a duo partner with a full support archbishop for mainly PvE, for thats all we really care about right now, doing those MvPs I think theyre called and so forth.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this post!

TL;DR HALP we're newbs and dont know what to do for leveling/gearing and the things we need to know before we screw up our characters!

RO is a Korean grinder MMORPG so you generally don't level up via quests like most other MMORPGs. Generally, you'd want to kill monsters within 5 levels of you for most effective EXP earnings, but there are some monsters that are a bit harder to knock down than others.

For build inquiries, I highly recommend checking out the job class sections. http://forums.warppo...um/182-classes/

There's a NPC near the Prontera tool shop (Hypnotist) who will reset your skills for free until Level 99. Other than that, definitely seek out the job class section for proper stat builds.

Stat resets can be done via an event NPC called Mesmerist or a Neuralizer item from the Kafra Shop (cash shop). Other than that, you can also reset your stats when you transcend a character so don't worry if you mess up your stats as a regular 2nd Class.

you should head to the white building located at the north of izlude, talk to the woman in brown hair on the desk, to join the academy, talk to the student on the right (you should see a ! icon) head straight up until you see the old professor, he tells you to talk to the three instructors which can be found in the bottom left room.

battle instructor gives you killing quests for exp but you just need to click on him and close the window, click the attribute instructor then exit the window, you should leave the room for now and find go back to where the woman in brown is at, you will find a stairway on the left or the right, it leads you to floor 2, this is where you advance to a class, you normally come here AFTER job lv.10 but you can do a thief quest that gives some exp/job exp for completing it. anyways locate the thief room, talk to the white woman and do the quest, after you did everything you can go back to the room on the first floor with the three instructors and click the pet instructor to get warped into a field, there are little porings here that give 72 exp and 48? job exp you can find many of them easily so you could stay here until job lv.10 then head back to the 2nd floor to advance into acolyte and swordsman.

you can kill these little porings or porings / fabres / lunatics until lv.15 then head to payon by using the warp service from kafra in prontera then head 2 maps south to fight Spores and Boa, make sure you pick up strawberries and blue herbs they are worth 2k+ zeny per drop, this map is fair exp until lv.26 then you should find a white haired elf girl in the city near kafra to warp you into the eden headquarters, talk to the purple girl behind the desk and type your name twice because she has reading problems (lol) talk to the instructor boya for a quest to obtain eden equipment, he should tell you to meet a eden member in payon, so warp to payon and go north to the archer village, at 11 o clock direction near the cave entrance you should see a npc, he tells you to kill skeleton and poporings then return to boya for your reward, read the dialogue to locate the npc that gives you the equipment.

payon cave is good leveling place until lv.35 then you could go to orc village by warping to prontera then Geffen, use navigation to find Orc Warrior in gef_field10 then set as a target and follow the red arrows to find the orcs, at lv.40 you could go back to instructor boya for a better equipment.

The Criatura Academy in Izlude is a cluster-_- and very poorly implemented. I don't even bother with it tbh. Just sign up for the academy, go hit porings till you're Job Lv10, then find your class NPC on the 2nd floor and job change. You want Acolyte and your friend wants Swordman. There used to be some really fun job change quests but Criatura killed those :P

Make sure you get VIP if you haven't already! Cheap warps to any town, 1.5x EXP and Drops and a +10 stat buffer make it totally worth the price.

Once you've hit minimum Base Lv12 then head to Eden Group, accessible from most major towns via a white haired novice NPC with elf ears, and speak to the NPCs behind the desk there. They'll send you on quests for EXP, consumables and gear. Once you get to Base Lv70 you can start doing something called Gramps Turn Ins, which you can access by speaking to the old man on the right end of the desk. Mix that up with the Eden Boards located against the walls of the 1st and 2nd floor of Eden Group (81-99 boards are on the 2nd floor up the stairs, 100+ boards located past the blue door on the 1st floor) and the Bounty Boards located in major cities, and you'll be leveled in no time.

To reset stats, talk to Sam Status in Payon, above the Kafra NPC and partially hidden by the tree. Rotate your camera till you see him. In order to pay for each reset, you'll need Magical Stones from either Gramps TI or the Cash Shop, the number of which depending on your level. You can also by them from other players. afaik Mesmerist is an event NPC and won't always been around, so don't rely on it.

To reset skills, speak to the Hypnotist or use a Neuralizer. Aside from the Hypnotist at Prontera, there's also one (same name) at the northern end of the middle square in Izlude. Neuralizers can be used at any time but since the Hypnotist does it for free and infinitely so long as you're under Lv99, you should only blow money on a Neuro if you're above that. Neuralizers do not reset stats, only skills.

You can use this tool to search vends in RO for whatever you might need.

There's not really a "best" partner for an AB, since they can level with pretty much any non-support class efficiently. Rune Knight would be better than Royal Guard though, since they have higher DPS and better AoE skills for leveling. They are also more competent MVPers.

RMT (Real Money Trade) is illegal. Don't buy things like Megingjards, or pretty much any in-game item, with real money.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Me and my friend want to go full support AB and geneticist, he was really interested in making a merchant and it seems like a good idea.

We are both currently base level 9 job level 12 as Acolyte/Merchant and right now were just trying to get to base level 12 to do eden group quests. We're currently in Prontera/Prontera Fields doing Lunatic bounty quests, is this the best option for us right now until we get to base level 12?

Genetic is a really really bad idea for a first ever character. They're extremely expensive to maintain.

It may be expensive but from what I seen, they seemed to overpower most of the other classes in mvp with cheap gear

Actually Genetic is my main and made it after a RG and I have made a whole bunch zeny with the Genetic. You get invited to mvp parties and parties in general and it is a very strong and powerful class. Good choice!

P. S: I got an MVP card recently just because I had a Genetic and I was able to solo the mvp.

stuff

going through the academy takes like 15 mins and gives you a whole bunch of nice goodies, especially useful for a beginning player (tons of novice potions, flywings, butterfly wings, and even magnifiers). you also get free kafra transportation and storage tickets, and you can get your cotton shirt enchanted and slotted for bonus hp/sp. the knife upgrade is garbage but w/e.

During Janeway I collected like 200 storage and warp tickets that I transferred over to my main and I'm still working through them. I still even have my novice flywings on my 150+ main.

also, VIP on renewal only gives you +7 to all stats, not +10 ._.

The Criatura Aademy and Eden Group give nice consumables and gears to help newer players who still need to the grasp of the game.

The Shadow Thief Bug event is also nice because of the free Shadow Gears.

And yeah..Genetic kicks ass but the way there is not easy, specially if it's your first main character.  Alch/Bio don't have a spammable skill and they have to rely either on 1 vs 1 killing, Homun Parties in low TI or farm for mats for their Bombs. Not to mention leveling the Homunculus.

(They can always set up a Purchase Shop for the mats, but they need money first)

Tip for the OP: As you are gonna be the healer you are gonna be very sought after in TI's. Instead of joining a party and risk your partner being rejected (because jerks exist and only want AoE'rs and Healers), you guys take the iniciative and be party leaders and recruit. Than way you won't be separated.

Second Tip: Every WarpPortal account can have 3 game accounts and you can multiclient. That way, if one of you is vending, he can double client and play with an alt. That way you both still play together instead of one soloing while the other stands in Prontera.
