I have knocked up now about 80 hours of play, I must admit a lot of it I was asleep.
I'm thankful child labour laws do not apply to my characters, making them gather constantly.

I'm nearing on lvl 40 with a paladin, since I am a returning player I thought it only necessary to start again. I was completely unaware that the knight class is now considered the worst which is disheartening to say the least. Playing the knight character is fun though so all is not lost, but having got this far I have not spoken to another person at all. I have seen the odd person standing idle outside of missions maps seemingly AFK, but it begs the question; where is everyone?

Before logging in, it states that channel one is usually almost half full depending on the time. I also frequently see people in transit, but that would hardly warrant me chasing them to garner a reaction. Is this normal for nowadays that people do not talk to each other? Or is it a different reason such as everyone is now way into the higher levels, so much so that you all overspill for space on different servers relinquishing that small exp bonus (although when your to high you are not eligible for it anyway) that each channel gives. This would explain a lot.

Or is it a simple case of the majority feeling that the community is simply not worth involving, an that we are perpetuating silence.

It's all a conspiracy. You're living a conspiracy. There's actually no one playing the game. :gg:

Oh well, these days the community is more a fast constant rushing one. The most people you come across in game are dashing or dash jumping to get somewhere else as fast as possible. In the lower levels many do level only  by F6 mission maps, while others are leveling by doing their hero quests and for example HunterG and mission runs. But however, all rush to take the next quest, to get to the next mission map, to the next f6 group, or rush to the area they have to do their quest in.

Not many people are standing still in the lower levels. Except they are afk for whatever reason (mainly to eat, or RL) and just leave their chars standing somewhere for that time.

Once you reach level 42 F7 is the top rated level system. At Valid Reath are many players looking for a party. And if you did all of your hero quests before and you are able to start the F7 mission - expect a people rush towards you.

But many of the F7 players don't talk much, some are AFKing the whole time (remember who and don't party with them again) and others do talk. Try to remember those, become friends and play the game together.

There are many players in guilds, for talking and playing and leveling together, maybe looking for a guild to join would be good?

We have a lot of active and very friendly (talk active) guilds, some even with team speak.

Yes, the community has changed over the years. But there are still people that like to talk, to meet others, to make friends. Maybe these days it only needs a second look.

(Announcing in the trade chat, when you are looking for a guild or a level party is a common method and mostly successful).

Welcome to this server!

:p_smile:

I can only speak for myself now, but I'm glad I've met you .

Hello, nice to meet you and I hope to see you in game.  :p_smile:

Fair enough, it makes sense you always get the exploiters who get banned that is understandable; playing all by myself seems awfully bleak and makes me wonder if I need my psychiatric health assessed.

It would be nice to finally obtain different perspectives on how the game is played, and also what end result each are trying to gain from playing. Joining a guild would be a useful idea, but choosing a guild that holds the right sort of members is always an issue. it is always the way, you get members that are willing to accept help but not grant it. On the other hand they will only do something as long as there is a benefit to them in some way. This ultimately ends in the guilds break down, secluding each member until they feel unnecessary or of no consequence to the guild. Is this still the way?

From your post it does seem the way, its either the tower defence simulation or your on your own.

Also, yes I am glad I met you, if not for your chirpy optimism and blatant kindness but also for your detailed description of your perceptions

Aww, thank you very much.  :p_smile:

Tower defense mode with the right group of people can be very entertaining.  :p_laugh:

There are many people that do not afk the whole time and like to talk, always funny chats going on. You just have to find the right party, or better the right people. Do some F7 runs and pick the people you like, make friend requests. From that point on you will have some good moments even in F7 tower defense.

You will learn to know which people you can trust and rely on  and which ones are foul apples.

Just give it a try, you may not end up in the very best group on your first F7 run, but maybe already the next group is a winner.  :p_smile:

About the guilds on this server, as far as I can tell you there are really great guilds on here. Some very big and old ones and some tiny new ones. I'm in multiple guilds myself.........because of reasons.  :p_smile:

I simply like people and like talking to people in the game and I enjoy helping others. So for me it's the more the better.

I've not come across a single guild that matches your bad description so far. All are very nice, friendly, talk active, helping and loyal - and some even in PVP.

Maybe looking at the guild section on here would be helpful?

(some threads are outdated though, but maybe still informative)

Asking in the trade chat for a guild mostly works fine. There are always people and guilds that are looking for nice, loyal, helpful and talk active members. Maybe have a try?

(and you can simply leave the guild if it is not the right one for you and after 48 hours passed join a new guild......so nothing to lose....worth a try me thinks)

:p_smile:

Like I said, the community these days has changed a lot. But not all changes are pure negative.  :p_smile:

Thank you Mr popcorn.

Fair enough. For now then, with your advice I will continue the lonely path until I get into the Floor?? 7(f7) Then see what sorts of characters I run into, until then I think it be best I stay guild-less. It would not be wise to randomly pick from a list they provide in game, the last thing I would want is to be instantly recognised to be a part of a guild that is not perceived acceptable by the majority (social convention an everything).

Multiple guilds also sounds interesting though I can hardly say I be so active on each character that I produce, one would merely be left to the side and forgotten, harbouring dust and other resentful thoughts for more used characters.

Your comments have been most useful, you have described the server from your utmost optimistic views. I wonder what a pessimistic individual would of done to influence my own views had you not arrived first.

Though having said that, whilst playing I do see the mods?? trying to counter act the "rumours" the last server is going to be out of commission. As pleasing as it is to hear it wont be, the wording left a little to be desired, for the foreseeable future? This doesn’t bode well, the foreseeable future is a very subjective term and that fact these have even become rumours is also worrying to a degree. This toppled with the lack of developers who are on another project of some sort also is worrying.

Since a mod who states he has direct conversation with the producer has posted on this thread I ask you, can you be as concise as possible with an explanation towards the state that this game is in? Do you know if you are earning just enough to stay out of the red? Or earning a steady income but not enough to warrant investing in further advances.

Maybe its that you are waiting for an opportunity to jump ship, maybe in conversation with other companies that might want to invest or have the necessities to do so? I use the term jump ship to reinforce that some people have unstable thoughts on whether this game is going to weather the storm.

Do you see anyone else who makes announcements and such? No? Right. I am the one who makes the announcements, I'm the one who forwards your wishes and concerns directly to the producer and I am the one who gives the community the infos I got from him always on time.

To the part with the "earning"... I earn just nothing. I do this for the community and for the game. That's it. That is why it's Volunteer Mod. And to be honest I am proud to be a VM and to do what I can do for the game and for the community.

And what I can forward immediately, with the words our producer used, is:

"We don't have plans for closing the game. It's not planned to close the game anytime soon or in the near future."

You can now think about this statement whatever you want, you can trust me or not, it's your decision.

But I also can tell you, that you wouldn't get more information from a GM or CM than you got from me now.

I understand what you say, you do not need to get defensive even if its just slightly, I also understand what the word volunteer means. Please do not get me confused with those without intelligence.

I thank you for your speedy response, it appears you do care as to not sweep it under the carpet although the lack of activity would make it hard to do so. It also appears the information either is not encouraged to be shared or disallowed in general.

It is also not true that I do not trust you, I would like to take this opportunity to say that at present I have no reason to doubt your words which is why I have taken them at face value. Having said that as I am new to this server, and have previously stated that I have yet to have a conversation with someone in game, you can understand that it would be hard to have pre-determined knowledge on anyone in a social hierarchy I have yet to find a place in.

Thank you for the information though I still believe that "soon" and "future" are very subjective terms.

Of course for clarification, I said you were being defensive for two reasons, you use of a question mark when you answered your own question shows sarcasm, and the use of the ellipsis conveys frustration and impatience.
