Is there anyway you could block this third party program (AKA Cheat Engine). Its hard to gather evidence and submit a ticket where almost 50% of ppl are cheaters (thats alot of work dude).

It's funny to see they don't ban speed hackers but in the previous years they banned those who used bots to compound cards...

both should be banned IMHO

i find it more amusing when they suspend players for using the "DC Transform" item in town, Ban players for "Selling accounts", Ban players for "selling gear". And dont even bother checking if it is actually true or not. Ive gotten one of my accounts banned for "selling" even though i never sold lol...and support did not even bother checking. BUT, wait for it, the account wasnt mall whored. On the other hand when a similar situation happened to my mallwhored account, support helped me out lol.

Not surprised. Look also at the compensation they gave us today: 1 month VIP. Do you see active? NO because they don't get money from it. Forge? Oh yes, so they sell more mall.... but as VM said they don't care only about money (well... they care also about credit cards xD)

Hack shield caused a lot of problems in game. It also did not prevent cheaters. People were still able to speed hack because hackshield is bypassable. The way you correct the issue is to code the server into the new millennia. The client does two things. It sends input to the server, and receives the results that it draws to the screen. The server calculates position and anything that happens within the environment.

This game used poor net coding practices in order to get the game to work with Gamebryo. Movement is calculated client side. Its the only way a speed hack could possibly work. The problem is its difficult to program a real mmo server engine. Compensating for it by having a client side door does not do anything since you can just go around the door or spoof the server.

Hack shield = made to be hacked.  Will happen to anything that claims to have the best protection.  But the gms have already seen who hack/bot and know who they are it isn't anything new, it's been going on for a very long time.  Either get some people in there who know what they are doing or just let the Defi hit you for 5k6k8k4k in 2 seconds.  I remember when the "Russain" hacking invasion happened and entire towns were literally exploding with bodies while none of them were banned for a VERY long time.

Someone somewhere is always going to get into your stuff depending on how good they are at their coding, unless you're rocking military grade shiz (still not 100% secure but you get the idea) which from what I've seen Gravity has nowhere near this.   Gravity's job is just to make it so hard for the majority of the cheaters that they either go off to some other game or just play the game normally (Which is rare if you have ruined your fun by hacking into god mode).  Sadly this has not been the case thus far.

Spoiler

The HackShield folder that you are looking at is remnant from when Requiem used to use HackShield.  Hackshield was tried and failed.  It was removed in 2009 because it caused more problems than it was worth.

Our license with Hackshield has ended as of today and we have decided to not renew our Contract. So as of today all issues involving gaming and keyboard peripherals should no longer be a problem.  I know, what your thinking what about hackers? Accounts found using hacks of this sort will be dealt with heavy handedly and all reports of such abuse will be taken very seriously.  We hope that with Hackshields removal, players will once again be able to get full use out of their gaming keyboards and mice.

Also it caused problems for wanting to use Wine to run Requim on Linux.

Those of us who remember it do not hold fond memories of it.  Other MMO's have used other anti hacking programs or have hacking detection protocols which have none of the forementioned side effects that Hackshield does.  Unless such a soultion can be implemented then Gravity has no business considering employing it in this game or any of their games for that matter since when it comes down to the bottom line their customers deserve better than that.
